25th Level Spells - Hints from Past Podcasts

I recalled this exact thing myself when I read about the 25th lvl spells. And it made me wonder if 4e would end up with some half-baked spell system, just cause one of the game designered tried it out as a house rule and thought it was delux-kewl-like. If the new spell system is anything like...

A Lot of Things to Rememberize?

That is what I've been thinking too. So you get some extra time back by cutting out AoOs and grappling and full attacks... which actually added some extra detail to the system, but whatever... then all the time you save from that, and then some, seems to be taken back by a bunch of new rules to...

The impact of removing full-round actions

Does it even matter that full attacks are gone if everyone suddenly has an ability to make multiple attacks with a stanard action? Especially if the ability that grants the extra attacks is only usable if you, hmm, lets say don't move more than 5' that round? Lol.

D&D 4E Should hit points continue to be generated randomly in 4e?

Random hit points and attributes would be the first things I'd drop. I already do that in 3e when I DM (just make up a stat array and let players put them where they want). But I'd keep random stats and hp rules in a sidebar or something as a variant rule.

Will Iconic Monsters be re-buffed for levels 15-30?

Look how different the dragon is. I think the iconics will get seriously retooled. Hopefully I wont end up mistaking a beholder as a medusa head that somehow escape my Castlevania game. If 21-30 is supposed to be epic, I'd hope that a balor is still at lvl 20 and not just buffed up to lvl 30.

    the "truth" about classes

Take it with a grain of salt, but the person working on the 4e SRD said that psionics would come out in a later PHB and that they would eventually end up in the SRD. Not sure if every new class will get added, but probably safe to say that some will.

    D&D 4E Multi-classing in 4e - hints from ToB?

I kind of liked the Gestalt multiclass the best (from Unearthed Arcana). Which was a lot like 2e multiclassing.

D&D 4E 4E PHB II & DMG II 1 year after release (and a new one every year after that)

Lets say I buy the PHB (and I don't DM, so that's basically all I get). Then four years later class X comes out in PHB5 that I want to try out. So I buy to PHB5, only to find out quite a few of the rules I need to play class X are in PHB 2-4. Maybe it won't be like that, but when they call...

Two things that I haven't seen mentioned on 4th edition

It could be cool for staves and wands to just make mages better at magic rather than being supercharged scrolls. But I hope a +6 wand is epic.

    Per day or per session?

That's kinda what I said... My friend used some book (don't remember the name) for a char that gave him some strange once per session stuff. I think one of them let him get a reroll once per session, but once per session someone could basically force him to do something out of honor. It...

    D&D 4E 4E combat more mobile?

That's a good point. Just because you can move and attack, doesn't mean you will. In 3e, at low levels you are usually only getting one attack anyway. So unless you have Rapid Shot or something, you don't lose out on extra attacks by doing a move/attack. But there are plenty of times with my...

    Per day or per session?

RPGA games, like Living Greyhawk or Xendrick Expeditions, have per session abilities that you get from these cardboard cards you get in the mail for playing a bunch. Most all of the adventures only take 1 session though, so it makes it a bit easier to balance. ("wait, what if we play 8 hours...

A Lot of Things to Rememberize?

That would... suck. Probably not true, but I could see them actually thinking of stuff like that.

A Lot of Things to Rememberize?

Cards would be a good idea. Not only do you have the rules right there, help you from forgetting or a player going 'oh I get to do this and this since you did that' and the DM going 'huh? Let me see that...' It was sitting right there on the table, so there's no question. But still...

    D&D 4E 4E combat more mobile?

This might make flying enemies a billion times more annoying. Ha ha, now I just fly away with no AoO or feat investment. That and monsters who can turn invisible at will, or have DR and fast healing (or worse, rengeneration). Mostly just annoying rather than scary or fun.

A Lot of Things to Rememberize?

I was thinking the same thing. Wouldn't AoO rules be way easier to remember than a 101 abilities that let you do X when Y happens. Also, I like spellcasting dragons. There is that template in MMV that takes away a dragon's spellcasting and gives them lots of special abilities, which I think...

An elegant solution to unfun combat healing

There is a sample encounter vs a dragon on the D&D website, and one of the last things to happen is the cleric gets a crit on the dragon, which lets him heal the wizard. Sounds like orc mischief to me.

Would anyone prefer spellcasting to stay as it is?

Is it true 4e will have 25 levels of vancian spells? PLUS per-encounter blasty-spells (ie fireball maybe), PLUS at-will stuff like mage armor and magic missile? LESS book-keeping?? If this is true, then yeah I'd rather spellcasting stay the same.
