The VOIDRUNNER'S CODEX is coming! Explore new worlds, fight oppressive empires, fend off fearsome aliens, and wield deadly psionics with this comprehensive boxed set expansion for 5E and A5E!
I always thought Sharpness had been replaced by Keen myself, but it was pretty powerful. Basically it was like Vorpal except it never cut off heads, just limbs (arms, legs, etc). Cool concept, but a huge pain in a system that had no hit locations.
Well the thing with creatures like that is you REALLY need to think out of the box. You try to make him a Sorceror first and he's going to suck. If you use his Sorceror levels to augment his Ogre Maginess, he'll do better. Theres a lot of low level spells that are just ok for casters, but...
Yes beyond gayness, and beyond all forms of sexuality into a realm of sheer stupidity. Well thats what I thought for a minute there. Sorry about the "it's", I always screw it up even though I know the proper usage.
P.S. Most of this was a cut and paste of a quick email to a friend, hence the...
Look at the ECLs for creatures now. WTF.
Its beyond insane.
Lets say our party start at level 5. Seems reasonable enough.
I want to play a Fire Giant. Ok.
So I start the game as a Lvl 1 Fighter Fire Giant..... cause Fire Giants are +4 ECL.... I still get all the stuff a Fire Giant does.... for...
We had a halfling fighter/rogue/DwS/OotB in my last campaign. It was disgusting. He literally dealt out hundreds of points of damage a round and killed arch-villians with a single arrow.
And yes, for those that know. I still live. :)
It is exotic to a samurai (using CoreRules), so he spends a feat to get EWP:Katana (BastardSword). Or are you saying that Japanese peasents get a free EWP:Katana cause they come from Japan?
Its not exotic to the samurai, because he was trained to use it (ie spent a feat), and he can use it...
I doubt we'll learn more about him since he's dead.
Stick vs Plate armor, Arya saw he was going to die when she ran.
If he comes back I'll be amazed since its not really in keeping with Martin's realistic view of things like that. And hes killed MUCH bigger characters in a heartbeat, none of...
How about this:
Suggestion spell.
"Thats a flask of mead you have there. You sure are thirsty."
Or something similar.
Save or die is kinda harsh (though it makes trying worth it). What DC?
Personally I've always toyed with the idea of just making it a CDG when you get a crit. At least you get SOME sort of save against it, even if its really high.
I kinda like kreynolds version though, even if its nothing like the original.
Greatest. Thread. Ever.
Well done kreynolds, you've outdone yourself this time.
Again nearly every feat you mention could be applied to this same guy we play with. Too bad he needs them ALL (and that last one about 5 times near as I can tell).
Iron Will or Combat Reflexes for the above reasons.
I lean towards Iron Will if your the only party tank, getting hit with those evil, evil Will save spells could get the whole party killed if they don't have enough dispels.
Combat Reflexes is great since odds are you'll get surprised alot and...
Since when weren't the corners threatened?
Did I miss something in my absence?
Could you cite the ruling or rule that supports this, I've always played it the other way (illogical as it often seems), mostly because of the whole 5' stepping into reach issue.
I had a game where the PCs cast Hold Monster on a Half-Fiend Roc, but still got torn apart by spell like abilities. They got pretty mad when I pointed out the passage in the book that says no components.
Oh and for those who wonder, a half-fiend roc is terrribly, terribly wrong. Even held it...
Reminds me of NeverWinterNights when my Rogue picked up one of the end bosses' weapons, effectively a (Un)Holy Avenger and used it. My other sword was better, but it sure was cool to use the sword that could only be used by evil paladins, plus I could dual wield it with my other sword (talk...
Biggest problem is that the rules are written with squares in mind, so you have to Rule 0 at least once or twice a session.
Squares aren't perfect, but with the diagonal movement problem solved I don't see anything as being better.
