If it helps, I know from personal experience that antidepressants can have really extreme effects that cannot possibly be placebo-based. Before I was diagnosed with ADHD, my GP, trying to find a "fix" for my issues, put me on venlafaxine (aka Effexor in the US I think), and jesus god that was bad! It's sad because I was pretty positive about it, and expected it to actually help, if in a subtle way.Today I learned antidepressants may be just as effective as placebo. Hearing this depressed me. I was already feeling down. This news made me feel worse. I know I feel better on my antidepressant than I do off of it. Now I'm concerned it could just be placebo effect.
Effexor is what I'm on. The first few days I felt like a zombie just going through the motions. There are real side effects. That's one of the reasons they gave for not using antidepressants. That zombie feeling went away. Other effects lingered longer. Now 12 years later I don't notice them. Less mood swings, shorter lows. I don't know if I could do without. Right now I just have to get out of my head.If it helps, I know from personal experience that antidepressants can have really extreme effects that cannot possibly be placebo-based. But instead my head felt like it was full of tickly cotton wool, I could barely think, it got worse and worse as I took more, and I sure wasn't getting any less depressed or more functional after 3 weeks (quite the contrary), when I flushed the rest of the pills and refused point-blank to take any more ever (I was 19-ish and living at home at the time). The GP wanted me to continue because the symptoms "might stop" but come on man, there's a limit. I was also becoming significantly more clumsy/less dextrous, which was er... not great.
So I don't think it's really likely positive effects can all just be placebos if negative ones can be so real. I do suspect they probably need to be more tailored to individuals than they actually are though.
Also, aside as it's a different kind of drug but wow, ritalin 100% not a placebo in my experience because the immediate and huge gain in function that gave me was astonishing. And if I don't have it, even if I thought I took it and just forgot to, the effects are obvious. Like, I'll be like "Why am I so forgetful? Why am I walking slow?" and then if I check where I put the pill-foil, it'll still be there lol. I was prescribed that when I was 20 and was quite skeptical of it after the venlafaxine but damn.
(As an aside, when re-reading after a while, I can tell posts I wrote without it lol I am significantly more of a jerk when I'm not on it!)
We had Red Sun in 1971 starring Toshiro Mifune opposite Charles Bronson. Mifune plays a samurai charged with recovering a stolen sword and Bronson is a former member of the gang who stole the sword. It also stars Ursula Andress, so that's nice too.Especially when you consider there’s evidence that he pitched the idea of The Warrior (an Asian martial artist in the American Old West) to studios first, got turned down, only to see many of his ideas used in Kung Fu a year later.
They used to get so pissed off when people asked them about the bee girl.Blind Melon is great. Word is he showed up to that video shoot on Lysergic Acid Diethylamide 25. Its a great video
Also, the backing harmonies are provided by Flo & Eddie, who used to work with Frank Zappa.“Hungry Heart” by Bruce Springsteen was originally written for the Ramones. Springsteen chose to record it for himself in advice of his manager/producer because, at that point, he had a history of writing some big hits… for other people. It became his first big hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
I;ve been flooded 5-6 times in 25 years or so and I lost count. Last time I got drunk as my friend said, "How can you be so calm as water is pouring into your house?", I said. "I've seen it before, and water is the most powerful force on earth."
Sometimes, it’s entertaining and enlightening to find out about which musicians worked with whom. Some careers are so varied and intertwined it’s amazing tracing all the links. Especially when you start seeing who gave whom their first break, or who poached musicians from other bands and so forth. Also, the backing harmonies are provided by Flo & Eddie, who used to work with Frank Zappa.
The key is you need a back-up sump pump. I'm right with you, it's not if but when, so I put in a gravity fed back-up pump to work when they cut off the electricity, they always do. I'm glad I haveen't found out how well it works but it gives piece of mind. I'll upload my drawings and a video of some jackwagon trying to drive through 4 feet of water and me and my laughing at him as he stalled out in front of my house. Right then, I think its in the video, we closed the door, yeah they arent coming in here. Theres a whole channel based on that...Investigate DiscoveryMy neighborhood is on a hill and my yard slopes downward from back to front. As soon as the storm drains get overwhelmed on the street above/behind us, the water begins forming a river coming down through my side yard and flowing into my submerged patio.
