Why not?Chess is not a sport.
A sport involves physical skill and effort which are not components of chess. Why not?
Body building requires both of those things.A sport involves physical skill and effort which are not components of chess.
In a body building competition, they judge you strictly by the appearance of your body. You're judged on how large your muscles are, how they're proportioned, how symmetrical you are, etc., etc. Competitors are not judged based on any athletic performance during the competition itself. You might as well call other beauty paegents sports because the participants work out, adhere to a strict diet, and may or may not be taking supplments (the body builders are definitely taking supplements).Body building requires both of those things.
Both sports. Darts is also a sport. I would argue that every sport is a game but not every game is a sport. Chess is not a sport. Darts, golf, curling, football, inferior football, baseball, wrestling, etc., etc. are all sports.
So, for it to be a game, it has to have rules, and for it to be a sport, you have to sweat? In a body building competition, they judge you strictly by the appearance of your body. Not everything in life fits into a single neat, clean category. There's some ambiguity and you just have to accept that or it will drive you mad. I implore you not to bring burritos into the discussion. I will absolutely die on the body building is not a sport hill though.I am getting serious "Is a hot dog a sandwich" vibes.
Also, the idea that chess is not a sport but darts is is ridiculous on its face and just reveals a bias. Both sports. Darts is also a sport.
