That's one of the reasons I really like it. It goes back to the feel of the old series. If it makes a difference, there are things you learn that come into play in later episodes, so there are different characters stories going on that carry over through multiple episodes. It's not purely episodic like the old series and next generation were.
I think it follows more of the early X-Files model for an episodic series. Distinct stories, but with a through-line.

"Strange New Worlds" is similar in character to TOS. I've called it the "spiritual successor" more than once.
Im not sure I want to subscribe to Paramount for one show, but maybe if I'm bored. God knows cable sucks. I wish I was a programmer for one of the stations..."87 straight hours of Pawn Stars Bob?, sounds good to me Joe, then a week marathon of American Garbage Pickers!! Outstanding, lets hit the bar"...

I don't believe in the no-win scenario

lol, some streamers arent any better. Amazon Prime is like a flea market DVD bin!

I know we are some months off from black Friday but keep an eye out for amazon deals. Last few years I got P+ for 4 bucks for two months which is exactly the amount of time I need to cover the content that interests me.

I barely even bother looking for anything to watch on Prime anymore, but yeah Prime Day starts July 16th, next Tuesday. I cancelled my cable and got Philo for $25/month and I gotta say it's not bad, the channel selection is just as good if not better than the Spectrum, the cable company I had. Half the time I just leave my TV on for white noise anyway

I had cable until a month or two ago. I only kept it for football season for redzone. Finally, you can get Redzone as its own app so I dont need cable. (I looked into other TV packages and everyone of them was more expensive than cable to get redzone.) Though, what really pushed me over was they took away my peacock access as a bonus for being a cable subscriber and then jacked my rate up 30%. If I could stay at the rate I had for years id probably still be a customer but im not paying a hundo a month for basic cable. I rarely watch it.

My cable & internet went up $25-$30 a year for the about the past 5 years. It was up to ~$250/month. In mid-April I packed up all my cable equipment, turned it in, cancelled it and just kept my internet. Once I did that, they gave me all kinds of discounts and promotions, I haven't had a cable bill since. I think I still have about two free months left and will only pay $30 a month for internet for the foreseeable future. They're a bunch of crooks with their hidden fees like the service technician truck tire inflation charge. Between Philo and a TV antenna, I get all the channels I want, and should be able to get most of the Bills games. Not sure about the Sabres because they're on MSG, but since they brought back Lindy Ruff, not sure I care.

I previously had Spectrum(Which is a TimeWarner subsidiary) and paid $30/mo for the first year and then it went up to $45 the year after for just internet. It was a drag. With that said, I had zero complaints about the service. I never had an outage, and always got great speeds.

I moved to a new state and now have XFinity(which is a Comcast subsidiary.) I've paid $25/mo for going on 16ish months now without so much as a threat to jack prices.. The service is less stellar however. I even quit using my own modem and router because I got sick of them pawning off their garbage service on my equipment. On the plus side they don't charge me any extra to use their box, though it's still not great.

With that said, I haven't missed cable in the last several years I haven't had it. My girlfriend on the other hand has to jump through a lot of hoops during Hockey Season. She subscribes to ESPN+ but they don't carry all the games, or they won't air all the games.. She's often complaining about having to use VPNs to dodge blackouts and stuff. It seems rough being a sports fan.
