I have to say, if Disney and LucasArts are going to trot out a space pirate, they did pick a name with a long Star Warsian pedigree. Issue #7 of Marvel's original adaptation of the Star Wars movie and further adventures, to be exact. So... 1978-ish.

When he's in the droid shop and his parrot-headed buddy catches up with him, he calls him Captain Silvo.

Yes. He goes by Captain Silvo and Crimson Jack. Not “Long Jod Silvo” or whatever.

I'm enjoying this far more than I expected to. It's not high art, but it is fun. The kids are not annoying, the mystery around the planet is suitably intriguing, the action sequences are well done, the thing looks gorgeous (and in that good Star Wars 'lived in' way). I was worried it would be too kiddy for me, but while it stars some kids, it's not childish. I look forward to it each week.

Yes. He goes by Captain Silvo and Crimson Jack. Not “Long Jod Silvo” or whatever.

Long John is also referred to as “”Captain Silver” by the pirates in Treasure Island, which sounds almost identical.

Jack is both a variant of John and the name of a flag on a ship.

There was a famous pirate movie called The Crimson Pirate (1952). It’s good, and a significant influence on the Pirates of the Caribbean original ride and franchise.

Pretty much avoid directors lists. Mostly because I don't know most of them. That's in any show.
