I'd call it a mistake, rather than actively evil. He mistook her actions for an attack. That they screwed up enough to be at that juncture was arrogance and stupidity, but not evil.
I don't think so. I think he knew she was being taken away and then set his mind to stop it by any means necessary. That's why it was eating him up so badly. If it was a genuine mistake and he thought she was attacking her own daughter(not sure why you'd think that), he wouldn't have been so overwhelmed by it.

She was doing something he had never seen before, I would assume. The natural reaction would be to assume it was some sort of attack, in the heat of the moment.

He saw the mother vanishing in the same way as "Osha." Unless it was a suicide attack, which makes even less sense that a mother trying to kill a daughter that she clearly loves, he'd know it was some sort of force transportation. He'd also not feel hate from the mother in that moment.

I think he intentionally killed the mother to keep "Osha" from being taken away from training with the Jedi.

Right after one of his fellow Jedi had his brain turned inside out.

I dunno. Yes, he deliberately thrust his lightsaber into her discorporating form, but he looked pretty surprised when it killed her. I got the sense that he hadn't intended to kill her. Perhaps he was just trying to stop her from getting away. Either way, his guilt was indeed eating him up inside.

I mean, what did he expect would happen if he put a lightsaber blade through her chest? I got the sense that he was surprised that it worked, not that it killed her. That or he realized just what he had done by killing her just to keep "Osha." Expecting a lightsaber blade through the heart to just stop discorporation, but not actually hurt the person being stabbed seems like a stretch.

Well in hindsight this show was all over the place unlike mist of the other shows tgat are somewhat consistent eve if they're meh eg BoBF.

Acolyte has some brilliance and otherwise typical Disney SW's.

The show was inconsistent in the writing and direction. It wanted a grand mystery but really did not deliver. I still do not see what happened to 180 million dollars. There were some good ideas in it but was dragged down by too little time spent developing the characters. The characters served the plot and the plot seemed designed around someone's high school short story.

It has thise issues yes. I just found it more fun than say Book of Boba Fett or RoS.
