I kinda like it. One of my favorites of the first batch of Visions episodes is that one with the dad who makes lightsabers and when they are unclaimed, the blades are a dull grey, but they change color to reflect what's in a Jedi's heart. So when the girl hands them out to the waiting Jedi, a bunch of them turn red because they're really Sith, but some of the others turn blue or green or whatever because they're not the bad guys. Not a fan of the bleeding thing either. I wouldn't care to much if it was occasionally on specific types of crystals.

I think the Ahsoka novel is the first place this concept of cleansing and bleeding khyber crystals appears? That was 2016 according to the Google. That said the crystals can be cleansed. This is why Ahsoka's sabers are clear/white. She made them from crystals she reclaimed from dark siders and cleansed them.
If khyber crystals bleed, then the Death Star's lasers should be red instead of green after the destruction of Jedha City.

I have always considered "bleeding" to be a figurative thing - so yes, probably changing the crystal at a molecular level, or at least changing the way it is connected to the Force so that it draws on the dark side only or something?
I wouldn't think that a kyber crystal is alive on its own, but it is a conduit for the Force. So the Jedi say that the crystal chooses you as if it were alive, but I think it's more that the Force connects to you through a specific crystal.
I'd guess it doesn't matter to ninety percent of viewers..... Most of us want cool things...I'm not sure. Either way it's within what the force coukd probably do without being to over the top.
But yeah it's a bad retcon if Osha can bleed hers instantly abd Vader cant/didn't.
Sometimes I wonder if Disney thinks things through or decides to follow up on stuff people weren't that keen on first time around (RoS ripping off Dark Empire, M counts, bleeding crystals or possibly the mother in Ahsoka).
They seem to do alright with original stuff and screw up adapting things.
