Spoilers Star Wars: The Acolyte [Spoilers]

Clearly there is more. Mae couldn’t have done it, and it seems unlikely it was the Jedi (at least not all of them acting together.)
I mean, I doubt Sol did it, but I'm highly suspicious re: the others. We can't tell if they were killed with lightsabers easily because they were wearing black over nearly their entire bodies, and unless they were hit in the face or dismembered there'd be nothing visible at a glance.

Sol gave massive "I AM LYING" vibes when he said everyone just died in the fire that's for sure, so at the least he's involved in a cover-up. The Jedi have never really valued honesty all that much, which I think is part of the issue.

I believe we are intended to make that connection.
100% given what was a crackpot fan theory that got laughed about a lot and treated about as seriously as Darth Jar Jar in the era when the prequels were new has since been confirmed as canon (I think in one of the novels).

(watch Shardlake if you haven’t already)
I can't! The sets and costumes are too cheap and tacky looking! It hurts me!

They may feel an obligation to offer an alternative.
They Jedi of this era are, to put it mildly, nosy jerks who think they're literally the bosses of the Force. They genuinely have a completely proprietorial and and rather colonial attitude to the Force. Other Force traditions are, at absolute best, cute little curiosities to the Jedi as a whole (individuals may be better/worse on this - Qui-Gonn was better, for example, as was Yoda - most of the time), and at worst, dangerous threats needing to be eliminated. They also have as they pointed out, basically a legal right to interfere. They say they "don't steal children" but like, they "don't steal children" in the sense that they apply social, political, military and other pressure (including it seems possibly bribes) and quasi-threats until they get what they want "willingly". You can see how terrible their attitude is in that they're trying to act like a small child should be a decision-maker here. Like, yeah kid do you want to go with the cool dudes with lightsabers and a spaceship and a cute hairy dude or stay with the strict meanies who make you do hard things and chores and limit your icecream? Half the kids in the world would be running into the arms of the Jedi no matter how good their parents were! And those are some of the oldest kids they'd even accept for actual Jedi training (it's slightly unclear what happens to older ones, I think there's an implication they're basically taught to suppress their Force powers and/or used as errrr whatever the really polite euphemism for servants is for the Jedi)!

They seem to be telegraphing pretty heavily that
Koril
is the one who is training Mae.
That's just anti-Zabrak racism on your part! /s

More seriously it could be but if we really were 3 for 3 on major named Zabrak in SW being Darkside force users that might be a bit much (Darth Maul and the magnificently name Savage Opress being the others).

Also Koril is short - see how Aniseya (who is 5'8", so not even tall for a woman, just slightly above average) is way taller than her. Is Dark Helmet that short?

(Btw this is the spoiler thread no need for spoiler blocks)

I wanted to give the opportunity for others to speculate, without potentially being biased by my post ;)

Have we seen the two standing on the same plane? I don't remember that. I remember the master standing above.

I am appreciating in Episode 3 that neither group is presented as "good". The Jedi are institutionally arrogant, able to not even take into account the perspective of others, and have political backing. And the witches seem to have that special kind of arrogance that comes from persecution (in ways I am thinking of cultic mindset of "we have to be right because they want to destroy us.")

For me it is a nice to see Noir come to Star Wars and the Jedi/Force be at the center of that. Everyone has an angle.

As for the fire, I think the Jedi showed up to take the at least Osha. Koril I am almost sure said "Uh, no" in the most direct way possible, and what was saw was the aftermath of a fight. I figure the fire was an accident of the fight not the intention.

As for Mae's master...as others upthread have mentioned it doesn't seem to be direct in the line of Sith Teachings. I need to watch ep3 again, because it seems more inline with what we see and hear from the Witches. When Mae attacks she demands that the Jedi come at her. And in episode 2 (compared to the scene of her mother "dueling" in ep3 ) seem very similiar.

Plus the suns on the planet are the logo of the series. So i figure someone related to the coven Mae/Osha came from is the master.

Assaj Ventress and Mother Talzin were also Zabraks but that would then make it 5 for 5.

Edit: Actually... is it a bit odd that Koril has horns? Female Zabraks generally, uh, don't?

I just made the terrible mistake of searching YT for Ep 3 breakdown and reactions and hoo boy is a certain cohort all kinds of bent out of shape.

I would feel bad for them except that they are horrible people in the first place and I hope the show just keeps getting more stuck in their craws every episode.

Don't do that lol.

I use Generation tech, Thor Skywalker and Eckharts Ladder for SW content.

So, I am speculating that maybe there was in-fighting amongst the Witches before the Jedi arrived on the scene. Or perhaps the Jedi (or at least Sol) sensed the fighting to arrive on scene.

We had Koril challenging her superior in the intro, and then the reveal later that a Zabrak actually carried the twins to term (at least that was how I interpreted the comment), but the creation of the twins was by "Mother"

The Jedi guilt and cover-up around the incident may simply be around the loss of life. Having Jedi showing up and then a pile of dead people being there is not a good look even if you did nothing wrong. Of course, the testing and forcing a choice does implicate the Jedi in being instigators for the events following.

Or, the cover-up may also be around the nature of Mae and Osha. Koril did mention in dialogue that the Jedi would not leave the Witches in peace if they knew how the twins came to be. That implies cloning, dark side powers, midichlorian manipulation or something else that is not generally acceptable.

Cheers :)
