Why would the Jedi care that much about the witches
The Jedi have a binary view of the force. If you are not committed to the light you are a darksider, and hence consumed by evil. Witches do not divide the force into light and dark.

As for the witches during the clone war, they and the Jedi are clearly hostile to each other, that’s why the witches aligned with the separatists.

And of course, there is also the allegorical element.

I didn't have high hopes when episode 3 started. A flashback from their childhood? Oy. But that was pretty damn good.

The Jedi are... Bester's Psi-Corp from Babylon 5?

The coven of witches are using the Dark Side? Is that bad? Loved that they literally were drawing down the one of the moons.

The Jedi have feelings. Good.

The structure was interesting. The audience isn't shown what happened on Brendok clearly, but we're clearly shown more than the characters can or will admit to themselves (except possibly for Sol).

The Acolyte doesn't shout quality from every frame like Andor, and there's no Baby Yoda, but so far, so good.
Yeah. I expect we we will see more flashbacks that reveal how so many of the witches died. The fire doesn't seem to be nearly enough to kill that many and in such close proximity to one another.

The Jedi story that they died by fire is obviously false, so the episode is strongly implying that they were killed by the Jedi. Torbin's willingness to drink poison after 10 years of isolation is also indicating a strong amount of guilt.

That means there's probably another underlying cause here. Mae's uncharacteristic arson (she was acting almost hypnotized) points to some Dark Side influence within the coven itself.

I'm hoping the Jedi actually did something really bad, mostly because it would be an interesting new take. But I'm betting the Dark Side agent(s) did something to either manipulate the Jedi into attacking the coven, or somehow forced their hands. And there's still an outside chance the Jedi weren't actually involved in the massacre.

Darkside Jedis an option as well.

The witches were originally light and Darkside on Dathomir. The darkside ones were nightsisters.

Latest Tales from the Empire seemed to show non darkside witches.

Mind trick but itself isn't dark side but can lead there and has dark side uses. Usually it's to avoid killing.

I don't think morally dubious Hedi or darkside Jedi ate a problem but the Jedi a more often depicted as idiots which some people might have issue with. Disney may also be over doing it.

I don't mind but there's not much contrast either.

Casting Carrie-Anne Moss just to kill her in the first scene was a nice surprise, but they would get more bang from their casting buck if they have her pop up as the secret puppet master in the last episode or two.
I was rather pleased when they did much the same with Steven Segal in "Executive Decision." This? Not so much.

Arguably using a Jedi Mind Trick in the Mod Eisley cantina would have been preferable to cutting off that guy's arm. Both actions would have been justified I think as he was about to kill Luke, but a mind trick might have resulted in someone not walking away from the even without an arm (can't recall if he tried to use one and it failed or if he just went right for the saber).
Ben tries to talk the guy down and avoid a conflict, but the guy suddenly goes for his blaster and Ben has no time for a mind trick at that point.
