Space 1999 RPG.webp

The Space: 1999 Roleplaying Game will allow you to join the crew of Moonbase Alpha! Created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson (Thunderbirds, Joe 90, and so much more) in 1975, the British show told the story of a moonbase after a nuclear explosion throws the moon into deep space. The game is written by Andrew Peregrine (Dune) and Modiphius Entertainment, and is powered by Modiphius' 2d20 system.

You can sign up for more information at the Gerry Anderson website.

I'm familiar with Space 1999 from when it was on a strange hour on a channel I can't remember. I don't think that more than 5-10% of the gaming population have ever heard of it. So I'd expect a small run of product.

But I'm sure this will be someone's idea of a great game, so more power to it an bring it on for them!
As I recall, the folks who bought the Zorro RPG -- which didn't get enough backers to get the really interesting stretch goals, IMO -- really liked it.

A good game is a good game. I am hoping for the best for the Space: 1999 fans.

I am very much a "don't yuck someone else's yum," but I honestly wonder how many fans Space 1999 has. I remember seeing info about it at Sci-Fi Cons, but that was decades ago. You are 100% correct, though: I hope this is a great game for the fans.

My fondest memory of Space: 1999 was my classmate Eric telling me he liked it more than Star Trek back when we were in 2nd grade. Eric was was kind of a weird kid.

It was very big in the UK in the 70s, shown prime time. It was a British/American/Italian co-production with American leads but British guest stars. Aside from BRIAN BLESSED, Christopher Lee, Bernard Cribbins and Leo McKern (okay, he was Australian) were in it.

It was notably more metaphysical, and darker than Star Trek, and the model work was considered state of the art for 70s TV. The spiritual forerunner of Blake’s 7.

We had the Corgi Eagle. Lots of fun playing with it and crashing it just like in the opening credits. 😂
There were two. One had a winch for nuclear waste containers, and the other with a passenger pod, with a green cockpit for some reason. Although Corgi also did a Goldfinger Aston Martin that was gold instead of silver.

We had the passenger pod. But I think the head was gray or white?
