Shade

So something like:

A busen can change the weapon form of its natural weapons as a swift action (or a free action if it has the Quick Draw feat), but it requires a full-round action for a busen to change the racial bonuses of its malleable form.

This appeals.

Shade? Shade!!

Quiet around here, isn't it. :)

What? What!!

Probably took a long weekend for US Memorial Day... And is now slammed at work. ;)

Yeah, my bad. I shoulda mentioned I was going out of town, and then I managed to pick up a nasty sore throat/hacking cough/bit of laryngina...

So that's why you're typing hoarsely. ;)

Hope you've recovered.

OK, let's make that change and add it to the draft.

Fine by me. So we're using...

Malleable Form (Ex): A busen can reshape its body into many shapes, although it always occupies the same volume and has an oily black skin. For example, it can grow large ears to give itself a bonus on Listen checks. A busen can use malleable form to grant itself a racial bonus on Balance, Climb, Escape Artist, Jump, Hide, Intimidate, Move Silently, Listen, Search, Spot, Swim, or Tumble checks. Malleable form can grant racial bonuses with a total bonus up to +12, but no more than a +8 bonus to any one skill.

A busen may also change the form of its natural attacks to take the form of any manufactured 1-handed melee weapon (heavy pick, longspear, whip, etc.). The natural attack gains all traits of the weapon, such as damage type (bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing), critical threat range and multiplier, bonuses on disarm and trip checks, increased reach, and so forth. Regardless of the weapon emulated, the natural attack's damage is always the same (1d10 for a standard busen). Emulated weapons cannot be disarmed, sundered or thrown, since they are as much a part of the busen's body as any ordinary natural weapon.

A busen can change the weapon form of its natural weapons as a swift action (or a free action if it has the Quick Draw feat), but it requires a full-round action for a busen to change the racial bonuses of its malleable form.

You know, maybe we should add "If a busen's natural attack takes the form of an exotic weapon, it sufferes a non-proficiency penalty unless it has the appropriate Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat."

Let's not forget that they have detect magic and detect chaos/evil/good/law at will. Or perhaps we should upgrade that to continuously?

Sure, why not.

It makes little difference, but I'd rather keep it at-will like the original.

Hold on, that should be shortspear if it's one handed.

Apart from that change, I think we're finished with this Special Ability.

That looks pretty good, save for the "sufferes" typo.

It looks OK for Shade to add to the Homebrew.

Hold on, here's a thought. What happens if it gets Improved Natural Attack (weapon protrusion)? Going by RAW it'll get a damage increase no matter which weapon it forms the protrusion into. That seems rather potent.

Ummm, it's not more potent than just Imp Nat Attack on a slam or something. Unless you mean the improved damage can be boosted by a crit multiplier or something.
