*I am given to understand this is because artificial grape flavor--methyl anthranilate--only makes grape candy taste like Concord grapes specifically. Since no one eats them as table grapes, "grape" flavor tastes like grapes no one eats (except as awful, awful jam/jelly)!

As someone with Concord grapes growing in his yard, I have one thing to say to this...

You're saying the candy tastes like awful jam, not that concord grape jam is itself awful, right?

Right?

I have never had Concord grape jam (jelly, preserve, whatever term you wish to use) that I thought tasted even remotely acceptable.

Give me peach preserves, or blackberry jam (preferably marionberry), or strawberry, or currant (red or black, I'm not picky), or cherry. Literally all other preserved fruit spreads I've had I could at least tolerate. Every Concord grape product I have tasted was horrible. Nearly inedible.

Well, fine. More for the rest of us.

The absolute best use of our grapes has been to make not jam, but grape syrup. Because that means homemade grape soda!

Blueberry's my all-time favorite. I like lingonberry and cloudberry, on the rare occasion I can get them.

Oh and have you tried Earth & Vine's stuff? They do weird combos like peach and chilis. Suprisingly tasty!

Edit: Fixed a Dreaded Typo.
