Never heard of them that I recall, must not have been big here because they play anything ad nauseum
At the time Toronto had an excellent Alternative radio station that would play a ton of stuff that you would never hear anywhere else. They had a policy that if you heard the same song in a 24 hour period and called in to call them on it, they would give you $102.10 (they were 102.1 FM).

967-1111. Remember that "Pizza" place. My mother dated a lounge singer that lived in the Royal York hotel off of Front Street, Anything and everything you could throw out of a hotel room, we did. Grimace Bombs....

My family stayed at the Royal York, a couple of nights, when we first arrived in the Toronto area. That was 1967. Back then you could still see the lake from the hotel windows.

The skyline is so different now. I remember walking from the hotel to the CN Tower and there was nothing' didn't even have to pay to get in. And they had a wicked arcade there. That was right before Dar Robinson died and he did that stunt for STYX. Died in a motorcycle accident if I'm not mistaken? Last time I was in Toronto that I remember was 2007 when I saw the Police...the band, not the time we stole my mother's flowers from the 24/7 store that closed at 10 PM. Totally different city now. The Silver Snail was a great comic shop. Start a thread of misadventure and I have many a story

There's a veritable wall of condo buildings that block the view of the lakeshore now. When I was a kid and my class used to visit Fort York, the guides used to joke that they would fire the cannons off at The Gardiner Expressway because it blocked the view of the lake, when the lake used to come right up to the walls of the fort. Now they would be firing at condo towers.

Then today I guess you're leaning that the old Silver Snail, with the multiple floors over multiple retail units, is no more. Some years back they moved to a much smaller location on Yonge Street, just north of Dundas, and are maybe a 2 minute walk from my desk at work at the uni.

Comes out at Spadina and York St?

Silver Snail was great. My brother told me that they suck now, and that they moved. Used to be 4 stories
Fort York is between Bathurst Street and Strachan Avenue, north of The Gardiner. Most visitors to the city don't even know it's there. Here's the view form the wall these days.

Back when they were in their old location, at their old size, I would wander around The Snail and seemingly find new rooms every time I went there. Not sure that customers were supposed to be in all of them :ROFLMAO:

Remember that mechanical gorilla on Yongue Street about half a block down? Thats how we knew we were close, walking. I head they moved to a location street side above Eten Place and have since moved from there as well. Now they're floundering

EDIT: Eaton Center was the underground Mall

Before lockdown The Snail was making a good buck selling coffee and I would see people lined up there every morning, before it opened. No idea now.

The gorilla was the landmark for Active Surplus, a surplus electronics store that I went to often. My trainer computer and final project, in college, were both built using parts I bought there.

I'd bet that gorilla is still there if the place is still open, maybe even if it's not, should be deemed an historical monument,
