OSR This tells me OSR is alive and well.

John Lennon's murder was a big deal in the rock and roll world. It didn't mean that rock and roll stopped being produced.

Everything that lives -- and I would say an artistic/cultural movement qualifies in this case -- changes. That's one of the defining characteristics of something being alive.

Deciding that something is dead because it's changed in a way that you don't like -- "my beloved child is dead and has been replaced with this obnoxious, smelly teenager" -- perhaps due to a catastrophic outside force like the death of G+, is a pretty weak argument.

One of my favorite signs was a little one attached to a tip jar at an ice cream store I used to frequent.

It was simple and to the point-

FEAR CHANGE? Leave it here!

I've ran 5E since it came out and rarely have I had "Oh 5E? Have room for another player?"
That’s the exact opposite of my experience. At the club I go to it’s really rare to find somebody who wants to play anything other than 5E. Every new person who comes along is only interested in 5E, too.

The other week there were 37 people present and 3 of us were not playing a 5E game.

I dont go to a club just my FLG stores. Which I would say maybe 37+ people where in the store last Sunday as a whole and the majority where playing MtG and Warhammer.

Club, store where people play. It's all words for the same thing.

If WotC put out B/X as 6E, they would go bankrupt over night.

I get why Necrotic Gnome adventures are popular. They are cool and weird and stylish. But the B/X rules are everything people hate about "old D&D."

I'm not surprised that Grognards like it. I don't get why younger OSR folk like it.

I mean, it doesn't matter. I'm not throwing shade. I am just honestly baffled that among all the evolutions of old school play, the one that is essentially just B/X is the one that holds folks attention.

And famously well-written and organized, with bullet points and bold text instead of paragraphs of stuff to wade through.

Regardless of system, WotC should look seriously at how Necrotic Gnome (and Arcane Library) organize their adventures.
Definitely.

The adventures in the Dragonbane box are similarly clean and easy to use. Why does everyone else still use walls of text?

The end of the OSR predating Mork Borg, Knock, Dolmenwood, the Monster Overhaul, the entire life and death of A Thousand Thousand Islands, new editions of Cairn and Swords & Wizardry, and OSE conquering a significant portion of the gaming world feels awfully premature.

It's definitely different after the end of G+, but as a recent Questing Beast video has shown, OSR stuff is incredibly popular on Kickstarter. If OSR is dead, the corpse has a whole lot of life in it.
