I love the enthusiasm, and normally I'm a fan of asymmetry... But I really dislike the proposed spines for the standard covers too.. I'd hate seeing one of them poking out on the shelf like an odd ball
The 5e spines already don't line up correctly with their flame lengths…

I really do not care which one. I'll likely go to my FLGS sometime around when they come out and buy a couple. If they have both, I may get one of each to tell which one is mine vs my son's copy, but it does not really matter.

Alt. I was waffling back and forth over which to get, but once I thought I couldn't get the alt, I was disappointed, lol, so that told me what I really wanted.

Oh, I almost forgot… I watched one of ed Greenwood’s videos -“Night of too many Wizards” and the end caught my attention. Part of the story involved a transformed gold dragon (princess) and a king … and tea. Which greatly reminded me of the PHB alt cover and made my opinion of it a lot more favorable.
