D&D (2024) Speculation on the next UA in April

Well then had a chance to do "core variants and modules." but decided not to in order to appeal to the old school.
I hate this... I remeber them telling us back in 2013/2014 to expect the ability to play in the style of any edition with splat books coming with dials levers and mods to make the game work... I assumed a Bo9S/Combat and tactics/complete warrior book was in the pipe line, maybe all three to make martial characters that you could drop in (book of battle too right? miniatures hand book? I forget all the old add on books... oh how could I forget Martial Power I and II)
I mean they even abandoned the non-obvoous-magical barbarian after the first subclass.
yeah, I don;t mind giving super natural elements as long as it isn;'t just spells... it''s why I like rune knight and psi knight but mutter through eldritch knight... I just want a few that DON'T need to be super magic heavy to stay up...
Buy your popcorn now. The Warrior packet is gonna cause a pseudo edition war and included people who never experienced one. It's gonna be a mess. I'd have pity if it weren't WOTCs own fault.
yup... edition War 117 about to start,,,

I don't think wild shape is going well enough. I hope to see a re-do for druids.

I think all the other playtest classes are better than their 2014 versions.

But yea, warriors next.
If you are right then they are going to nerf everything else. And buff Wild Shape.

From the packet:

POWER LEVEL
The character options you read here might be more or less powerful than options in the 2014 Player’s Handbook. If a design survives
playtesting, we adjust its power to the desirable level before publication. This means an option could be more or less powerful in its final form.

I'm talking about how it plays and the flavor.

You can't wild shape into a spider that can climb on ceilings, a giant frog that can swallow enemies, a slow moving highly armordd turtle, or a giant snake that can strike from 10' away or constrict it's prey.

I understand them trying to simplify, but they went from 50 flavors down to vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry.

Source Please?
Sure, it'sprobashiftef since Tasha's...but maybe not too much:

One has to remember that the most popular subclass expect one was the one that is in the srd and is free on DNDB.

Depending on how well or poorly the weapons system is accepted, the fighter might be one of the few classes where we might playtest more than one subclass. This again foretells seeing the Warrior playtest multiple titimes.
Negative: the above numbers are for only people who had unlocked everything on Beyond, IIRC: Champion is the most popular Subclass for people who have access to everything.

The free subclass is the most popular subclass for every class but druid.

These numbers aren't for people plating with the SRD, or even people who buy a few books. The Champion remains the most popFightet choice among the specific population of folks who unlocked all the options.

In yhe end, I doubt the OneD&FD Fighter will change all that much, and yet remain wildly popular.

It still states that the free SRD subclasses are most popular except for 1.

Either
1) WOTC nailed every class with their free SRD subclass
or
2) Most players played and created free character options first THEN bought the DNDB PHB.

I doubt the first draft of the ODND Fighter will change much. But there will be a LOT of people upset of why it does not have X, Y, or Z.

There are nothing but discussions, videos, suggestions, and complaints about the simplistic by 5e veterans. Keep word "veterans". 3PPs have been feasting on making alternate fighters.

I mean, Occam's Razor: WotC made the most popular archetypes the example options.

A "lot of people" can be displeased with something in the game and not mean too much: about 20%, in fact. WotC isn't trying to please everyone, they are trying to please 4 out of 5 players for each option. By the odds, if they do that, most people will have something they like.

Occam's Razor: The Free option is most poplar because it was free.

I mean the Berserker Barbrian is the most popular Barbarian and it is fundamentally broken RAW.

No, the Beserker is not the most popular: the Totem has it beat by these numbers. Not every Class has the SRD option as the most popular, Barbarian, Druid and Warlock in particular don't.
