D&D 5E SCAG MAPS

Picked up the SCAG yesterday. I was a little disappointed to find that there wasn't a pull-out map included. To add insult to injury, the maps printed in the book have NO SCALE. How am I supposed to know how many miles per inch? Am I just not seeing it somewhere? Can someone else with the book tell me if I'm just missing something, please?Thanks!

Look at the map for Phandelver (which has a distance legend), measure Phandalin to Neverwinter. Look at SCAG map, measure Phandalin to Neverwinter, get ratio from first measurement and multiply by the Phandelver map distance. That should do it.

That's... that's just stupid. Why would they include maps with no scale?

The map of the Sword Coast from Hoard of the Dragon Queen has no scale on it either.

And to make matters worse, the scale for the maps used in Scourge of the Sword Coast, Lost Mine of Phandelver, and Princes of the Apocalypse don't match, even though they line up nicely.

The cartographer, Mike Schley, tweeted this earlier today: "... on Monday I'm releasing a huge digital version of the regional map from SCAG. Whole & tiled out on 32 full pages. Big!"

I asked if it would have a scale, and he said yes, there is "a scale bar in the lower left portion of the map". I guess it got cropped out for the book or something.

I guess because they wanted to provide maps that were from the point of view of adventurer's and not 'DM omniscient' maps. That said, I was disappointed that a nice color oversized map was not included with this book, (come on Wizards, we know you can do this).

Im going to write Wizards a letter.

However, the book is amazing in detail and contents, an excellent, excellent buy for all lovers of the Realms.

Lovely. However, I wish Mr. Schley would sell the printed map in a large format, not just 11x14, and not charge so much when the book cost me $40.
