How about we take the Father's abilities as a baseline and boost the mental scores a bunch?

How about we take the Father's abilities as a baseline and boost the mental scores a bunch?

Yeah, might as well. We'll also want to upgrade him to a Magical Beast too, of course.

I guess he'd be somewhere between a Dragon Turtle (Int 12, Wis 13, Cha 12) and a Kraken (Int 21, Wis 20, Cha 20). Averaging those results in Int 16.5, Wis 16.5, Cha 16. It'd seem appropriate for him to be really wise, so I'd increase the Wisdom by +2 or +4, but turtles are not known for their brains so we can also lower the Int.

How about giving it the Intelligence modifier of a Dragon Turtle, the Wisdom of a Kraken, and a Charisma that averages the two?

Grandfather-Of-All-The-Turtles: Int 13, Wis 20, Cha 17.
Should we give Grampa Turtle some more Hit Dice, since he's supposed to be an ancient example of his kind?

Those stats seem fine.

Why not bump to 21HD, so we get maybe sneak an epic feat in there?

I was thinking 24 HD, since that's the Hit Dice a regular Giant Sea Turtle caps out at, which fits with Gramps being "as big as a giant turtle gets, if not bigger."

Still, if you'd rather make them 21 it'd work as well.
