Beholder as a player character???

Hi,

I am not new to Dungeons & Dragons and have played most of the versions, however, I cannot find any rules within the 5e rules set that allows you to play an actual Beholder. Has anyone come across any homebrew or Unearthed Arcana or anything that allows you to play a Beholder.

I, uh... would not hold your breath waiting for official rules on this.

If you're really set on doing it, your best bet would be to see if you can get your group on board for a gonzo campaign where everyone plays a high-powered monster. And then just play a beholder straight out of the Monster Manual.

The monster PCs should have got hands or claws, and creatures with many powers aren't a good option. Maybe you could create a beholderkin humanoid, but it had to be homebred, a nerfed or softer version of the lensman beholder, a subrace from AD&D.

Do you know the monster classes from "Savage Species" and the racial classes from "the complete psionic"?
