Barbarian/Paladin?

I can't think of any from WotC material, but you can always come up with your own feats or PrCs to allow a barbarian/paladin multiclass. See the Devoted line of feats (especially Devoted Performer, which allows bard/paladin multiclassing) from Complete Adventurer for inspiration.

There's a Half-Orc Paladin Substitution Level you may want to look into in Races of Destiny.

Ah, I just found the Champion of Gwynharwyf. That's along the lines of what my buddy wants.

Looks like it's Smite Evil class ability does not stack with a Pally's. Hm. Well, he could be just straight Barb.

You could also go Paladin, then Barbarian, then Holy Liberator (CG) (a prestige class in Complete Divine that gains the ability to remove fatigue as a special ability - that synergizes nicely with barbarian rage - and whose paladin levels count for "smiting" and "caster level" purposes).

There is also a Book of Exalted Deeds prestige class called "Champion of Gwhynnneralala(coughcoughcough)" (also CG) where you are basically a holy barbarian that gets paladiny type things like detect evil, some spells, etc.

Oh yeah, and BOED has some neat feats for rage. I think you can intimidate evil folk with your rage or something, and you never risk harming friends when in a rage or frenzy (which neatly stops the major flaw of Frenzied Berserkers).

Is there such a thing? Are there any good feats or PrCs for someone who wants both rage and smite?

In terms of core rules, you can be a barbarian/paladin, but either you lose all paladin abilities (including smite evil) for not being lawful good, or else you lose the ability to rage if you become lawful. So, for the purposes of marrying rage and smite, you'd have to go outside of the core to do so, at least in terms of classes and PrCs. I suppose you could try adding the celestial template and/or add cleric levels with the Destruction domain.

The CoG is very nice, however a fatal flaw is that in order to get one of the later barbarian class abilities(i cant recall if it was mighty rage or tireless rage), you need to get more than the min amount of barb levels in order to enter the class. Since the DR of CoG doesnts tack with the barb DR you arent really getting anything for taking more than min barb levels.
