D&D (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

Can anyone double check the exact wording, and see if that includes pact magic?

I assume so, but worth checking.
“On a turn, you can expend only one spell slot to cast a spell. This rule means you can’t, for example, cast a spell with a spell slot using the Magic action and another one using a Bonus Action on the same turn.”

At the 38 minute mark in this video:
That's still a spell slot.
Right, but going by the above, you could cast another spell without a slot along with it (assuming you have the ability to do so.) But in the summary I've seen that mention Quicken Spell, (on RGPBot) it says something about still being limited to one leveled spell a turn, which seems to contradict the rule above

Can't believe we didn't have a thread for this already. Feel free to discuss any of the new spell changes or additions.

Ok. IMO it is mostly bad from what I have seen so far:

The bad:
Find Familiar was made more powerful. Now you can look through your familiar's eyes as a bonus action. This causes a problem because you can use it to target an enemy you could not otherwise see with a spell. This is a pretty big buff.

Shield needed to be nerfed and wasn't

Befuddlement (new Feeblemind) makes no sense. It does not lower Intelligence or Charisma. All it does aside from damage is stop you from using the magic action, which means you can still communicate, fight, roleplay or even cast spells that don't use an action.

Inflict Wounds was already a weak, highly situational spell. Now it is essentially useless.

Paladin Smite spells are awkward in terms of action economy, requiring a bonus action you take as part of an attack action if you hit.

Mirror Image gives all your images your AC. This on something like a Bladesinger with Mirror Image you are going to need like 50 attacks to get one to hit. Also probably doable on an Eldritch Knight/

The good:
They improved Counterspell

They improved some conjuration spells

They stopped some of the Spirit Guardian Shenanigans.

This is true. RAW you can cast mutliple leveled spells in a turn as long as only one uses a spell slot. This is going to be relatively commonplace with things like Magic Initiate as an Origin Feat, other casting feats that give sells as a regular feat and some classes having spells that do not require a slot to cast.

If I understand the new rules correctly, Shield (and other reaction spells) have been given a stealth nerf in that you can't cast more than one spell with a level per round so if you cast Shield you can't cast any non-cantrip spell on your turn, unless I'm mistaken.

It sounds like it's per turn, not per round. If so, Shield wouldn't interfere with other spells unless you cast it on your own turn (e.g., to stop an opportunity attack).

Ah, my mistake then. Thanks for correcting me. Yeah, in that case Shield not getting nerfed is straight-up BS. And they nerfed Inflict Wounds? Now that's just stupid.

It's possible shield got a stealth nerf by having more saves instead of attacks.

Also, high level Wizards can't take reaction spells as their at-will spell anymore.

The Stealth nerf to Shield will be that when you get to mid-high levels where 1st level slots are throw away, monsters will have features to make very high attack rolls.

Original Question: Has anyone posted the full text of the invisibility spell and see invisibility yet?

Edit 1: Here is "See Invisibility" D&D (2024) - New stealth rules.

Edit 2: Here is "Invisibility" D&D (2024) - New stealth rules.

Edit 3: Here is the "Invisibility Condition" D&D (2024) - New stealth rules.

Updated post: So they fixed the sage advice problem of invisible creatures still getting the attack bonus when seen.

Updated question: Will the new sage advice still give seen invisible creatures the initiative bonus?

The preview version of the ancient green dragon has the same attack bonus as the 2014 version.
