D&D (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

spiritual weapon has concentration now, spirit guardians basically unchanged.

Banishment mostly unchanged. Haven’t heard anything about forgecsge, was it changed?

Simulacrum infinite abuse removed, also better clarity on the old “it can’t learn” clause.

Powerword kill now deals 12d12 damage if your over 100 hp.

Weird got a buff but I’d still garbage :)

How do True Strike and Sheleighleigh work now? True Strike gives scaling damage I'd assume at 5/11/17. I'm guessing it's just for one attack. Does Sheleighleigh give any bonus damage also?

Not a change to a specific spell, but an interesting change is the following (from Treantmonk’s first PHB video):

Page 236 of the 2024 Player’s Handbook includes a section clearly titled “One Spell with a Spell Slot per Turn”, which explains you can only cast one spell with a spell slot per turn. It specifically explains that you can still cast a cantrip.

Many people are interpreting this to mean any free castings of a leveled spell that some classes/races get don’t count for this restriction. So a ranger could cast Hunter’s Mark and another spell on the same turn.

Not sure how it interacts with a sorcerer’s Quickened Spell metamagic, without seeing the text on that

Someone check me. The new find steed specificies that it “counts as a controlled mount”. The mounted rules do not allow for a controlled mount to make attacks.

But the steed does have an attack. So when does it use it? When it’s by itself maybe?

One thing this could mean is that all those castings without using a spell slot, like warlock invocations are now, mean warlocks who can cast without spell slots can do things like cast their mage armor, misty step, jump, or levitate, invisibility or other such spells and still cast another spell.
