D&D General Where is the tv/movie drama about G. Gygax?

Spreading holiday cheer.
I've been listening (audiobook) to John Romero's autobiography "Doom Guy: Life in First Person" (it's really good BTW) and I've seen that a movie and/or tv drama is/are being planned. I honestly can't wait to watch it. Also, can't wait to see who they get to play Romero and Carmack.

Lots of tv/movie dramas of important people have come and gone. Usually about someone super famous like a politician or music star or tv star etc. Romero a guy who made one of the most important video games in history is now getting his (where is the one about Shigeru Miyamoto?).

Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson created something that literally changed the world. Like Star Wars and Star Trek. Maybe not as hugely popular to the average citizen but you know D&D changed a lot of stuff. Created an industry. Changed how video games where made. You wouldn't have Zelda or Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest or heck Skyrim and Elden Ring etc if it wasn't for D&D. Not to mention it's effect on movies and tv and novels etc. You probably wouldn't have your Isekai anime and manga if not for D&D.

I've read and watched several documentary style stuff about Gary and TSR but I would love to see an 8-10 episode DRAMA about Gary the shoe cobbler who met a man name Dave and changed the world.

Season 1 can send with the rise of TSR at it's pinacle and Season 2 can be the slide to the take over by Williams or something. IDK.

Come on WotC! You keep wanting to get into the tv/movie game. So many other companies are making movies and tv shows and cartoons/anime that's basically taking from the D&D table, get on the train and make this stuff!

That’d be great!!

I’d prefer an American Experience-style documentary, myself - I prefer documentary over docudrama - but I don’t think GG has reached even that level of stature. “American Oz” regarding L. Frank Baum would be the equivalent I’d hope for, but I’d guess we’d need D&D to become a Marvel Ciniematic Universe-like success before that is ever likely to happen. (But hey! That means Stan Lee is likely to get such a documentary before my life’s end! And of course I’d expect George Lucas will get there eventually.)

“When We Were Wizards” seems about the best narrative Gary is likely to be given any time soon.

"The Dreams in Gary's Basement" is a documentary style thing you can watch

Yeah I was a backer on that, but by the time it delivered(?) I was deep in some crisis or another, and never figured out how to get it. (And similar now. Passing time here on my phone while waiting through a couple current hopefully-minor family crises.)

I may be thinking of something else because looking at clips I can't say Ive watched it either.

Apparently its only available for $40. I'd love to watch it but not at that price.

Been reading Slaying the Dragon (on Kindle) the new 1970-1977 book lately. I would be more interested in a series about the creation of D&D through his departure, with a lot of focus on him. I'm being very swayed by Ben Riggs's work. TSR sounded like absolute chaos. I feel like it should be presented with no heroes, just people fighting over this concept that hit the zeitgeist. Maybe Arneson could be a likeable character. Maybe Kask.
