What is used for a holy symbol?

So what are Clerics and Druids supposed to use as holy symbols? I know some gods have a 'symbol,' so I would assume a holy symbol for such a god would be one of those. What about the others? What about Druids? Do they need to be expensive? Cheap? Are there any guidelines for them? I haven't had any luck finding much.

There are items listed in the PHB equipment as 'Holy Symbol, Wood 1gp', 'Holy Symbol, Silver 25gp' and 'Holy and Misletoe 1gp?'.
A dwarf cleric of Moradin I ran used his warhammer as his holy symbol. (Thank you Mr DM man!)

My DM is pretty liberal with this too. One Cleric I ran had his holy symbol engraved on a shield he carried, and used that as the focus.

Druids can use Holy and Miseltoe for foci. Ive always ruled that a holy symbol need only be something the diety supports. Something that would let everyone familiar with the god to know that you were on his team.

In my Elysium Squad game, I have a player who is a cleric of Pelor who had the Sun God's face inscribed onto his shield. As for pricing, I just accepted the cost of the shield and the cost of a silver holy symbol. I thik that's all the harder it really needs to be.

For other characters, they can do what they want, really. It is a flavor part of the game - so if a character comes up with a cool idead - try and help them run with it!

I played a cleric of Torm for awhile who's holy symbol was her right gauntlet. She also wore the pendant around her neck, and also had it emblazoned on her sword as well, but the gauntlet was her foci.

A friend of mine's cleric of Pelor has the pendant as well as having the symbol emblazoned on the shield. Later on, the party dwarf tattooed it on his left bicep. I have no clue which one is the foci, but I think it'd either be the pendant or the shield one.

In that same group, I had a male ranger who had his deity's symbol (Ehlonna) tattooed on his left bicep. Later on, he got a silver symbol pendant. He multi-classed into cleric for a level before his final demise.

My half-dragon paladin of Tyr has her's emblazoned on her tabard she wears over her armor.

Bah. Must remember to proofread posts. Yes, holly. As in the tree that has sharp bits and really suck when you have to rake their leaves.
And misletoe - the stuff you're supposed to kiss under.

Ditto, thanks for the help. I do try to make all of my posts as coherent and grammatically correct as possible. Good eye.
