What Happened to '[Insert 1E/2E Spell Name Here]'?

I have a grudge against Sticks to Snakes, resulting from my first cleric character. The way my brother ran the campaign, Sticks to Snakes would be better described as "Make all stick-like objects mysteriously absent from the vicinity." Even outside in the woods he said there were no suitible sticks.

Just like the old Call Lightning spell ensured you'd have perfect weather.

Did he also say that bats don't doo-doo, so that you have no guano for Fireball spells?

i got the impression that this was "Vol 1." will there be a Vol 2? maybe...

One of the online versions of the cover has a BIG "I" in the center of the cover (it might have had "Vol" above it, but I'm not 100% sure). I suspect they just decided to remove that, in case they end up not doing a volume II.

Heathen! ;)

That "spell" was first on the screen in The Ten Commandments, not Conan!

The Egyptian wizards threw their staves at Moses' feet, where they became serpents. Moses retaliated- his staff-snake eating the others.

I always thought Moses was using a Staff of the Serpent.

I think Ice Burst is in the new Spell Compendium as Snowball Swarm... or something similar. I saw it the other day, it's a 2nd level Wizard spell I know...

Nope! Snowball Swarm was orignally Snilloc's Snowball Swarm (A Forgotten Realms spell, check the campaign setting).

I loved all the big greyahwk name spells that went beyond the basics found in the PH. The tenser force construct spells(I like the one that summoned like hands and tools and they basically did basic work/contruction), the bigby slap down hands etc.

Also i think in spells and magic one of my favorite spells was this one where you sent a big hunk of the material plane to one of the elemental planes safely. It was meant to make your tower/castle whatver an extradimensional castle. It was a long ritual, expensive components, and was basically permanent. And you got to have your castle in an elemental plane, now that's a nice view. I only got to cast it 4 times, sending a diferent section of his abode to each plane, and with some permanent gateways linking them. I loved that spell. It really was like the end spell that made me feel like I had hit the peak of my class. It was all the more satisfying when I think about how long it took me to level up so I could cast 9th level spells.

Oh on the low level side I loved this one spell where you could basically take a 3d picture that would be imrpinted in a crystal ball. Virtually worthless, but I had fun wasting a round taking a picture of a battle, and using it to help spread our tales. I really should bust out my spell compendiums so I could look up these spells, and get there names.
