What DnD book of yours is the most damaged?

Wear and tear would be my first PHB. The binding on those first ones kinda sucked. It's not that bad, though, I've seen far worse.

Non-wear and tear damaged would be my Savage Species that a friend spilled a bit of water on. Not much, but enough to know it was there. Then there was the Dragon mag I lent to another friend that somehow got dropped in a full bathtub...

But then, I'm fanatical about taking good care of my books.

Yeah, me too. Other than those mentioned above, you wouldn't even know my other books were ever used (even the DMG and MM).

You knnow what will help all of your books last longer, especially softbounds? Take the clear packing tape and tape all the edges and the spine. Tape it so about half an inch will fold over to the inside on the non-spine sides. Even my splatbooks, which have seen a lot of use and been borrowed many times, almost look like they could have come off a bookstore shelf.

It also protects from spreading spills. Gives you that extra second you needed to get it out of the way. The only reason my core rule books even look used is because of the wear on the flat surfaces that has actually removed the color enough to give them a grey marbled look.

Next time i buy new books i am going to tape the whole surface.

My 2e books look pretty darn good too. I haven't done it to my 1e books because all they do is sit on the shelves.

If you really want your books to last you it is very worth investing in the 3M tape. If the glue causes any degradation it is slow, my 2e books have been taped for about 12 years and i can't see any damage other than some mild discoloration.

I've had books have pages stick together (2e Monstrous manual), pages get spilled on (cover of 3e PHB), pages fall out (2e MM again), one or both covers fall off (3e Monster Manual, several 2e Monstrous Compendiums)...

But the worst would have to be my CD with the class-splatbooks, PsiHB, and Creature Cataloge on it... My sister left it out to get scratched and now I can't get a single computer to read it...

At the Chicago Comicon years ago I drunken berated the TSR guy because my 1st edition stuff was in perfect condition but the 2nd edition stuff, especially the DMG, had all fallen apart. Over and over he patiently explained "I don't know anything about it but I will look into it and I'm very sorry." If anyone talks to him tell him I'm sorry.

My Forgotten Realms Old Grey Box... it has long-since been crushed under a bunch of other box sets. The maps are pretty beat-up, too.

Well, the cover of my 1st ed Forgotten Realms boxed set is caved in, and my copies of the 1e PHB and Deities and Demigods have seen better days. A junior high school lunchroom wreaks havoc with your stuff... ;)

My second and third edition stuff is in remarkably good condition. I guess as I've gotten older, I've gotten more anal - now I'm fanatical about my books to the point of bordering on OCD (at least that's what my players tell me :))

Two of the pages in my 3.0 Players Hand book have little fold marks from me fliking through to fast, about an inch long and really hard to spot. The cover of my Revised Ed PHB is bent, but that isn't my doing. The little damage is from me not owning anything longer then 7 months.
