What are good spells for a Sorc to "chain"?

Yes, it is called Reach Spell. I think it is in Complete Divine. Keep in mind, this will boost the spell's slot even higher if you combine Reach Spell with Chain Spell.

ohh... I suppose that is true for all ray spells then? That's what twinning is for I suppose.

How about Blindness/Deafness? (I'm a sucker for mass necromancy)
 

Chain + Reach Spell + Truestrike. :)


BTW, he still gets high level spell SLOTS, just not high level spells. You could cast 5th level spells, your current maximum, in a 9th level slot. You just will never know a 9th level spell, barring Cha increases.

No, that's what Split Ray is for. Twin Spell works on all spells pretty much.

If he always chooses to increase Charisma every 4th level (and I think he will), he's only going to have problems at levels 18th and 19th, when his Cha will be 18 and his daily slots already up to level 9.

But AFAIK he will be able to use those "slots beyond his charisma" for metamagicked spells, for example a Chained 6th levels spell uses a 9th level slot but it's still a 6th level spell for all purposes and therefore I think he'll be able to cast it.
 


I'm also going to have to go with chain Dispel Magic and chain GMW. Most of the offensive spells don't chain well, either do to the -4 secondary save (don't chain an enchantment!) or the fact that you just can't. On the other hand, chain can be a wonderful quick buffing utility metamagic. It's expensive, but...

And chain dispel has a very real possibility, even with the +10 max, of cancelling every magical item on someone for 1d4 rounds. Item caster levels are pretty low.
