Spellcasting While Raging?

No, but the Rage Mage PrC from Complete Warrior allows it as a class ability. The spell has to have a casting time of less than a full round, however, so metamagic is out.

If you were to create such a feat, I'd suggest basing it off of the Ascetic and Devoted feats from Complete Adventurer, and, say, allow Sorceror levels to stack with Barbarian levels to determine effects and daily uses of Rage, as well as spellcasting in a Rage.

The Rage Mage PrC is the only way I know of to do it, as Rage otherwise explicitly states that you cannot do anything that requires patience or concentration such as spellcasting.

There was a feat in Dragon, quite a while ago, that allowed the casting of Quickened spells while raging. It had a lot of prerequisites. I can't remember which issue.

Geoff.

The Rage Mage prestige class is definitely the way to go if you want to cast spells while Raging.

However, let's say you're not a Sorcerer or Wizard- let's say you're a Warlock (from Complete Arcane) with a level of Barbarian who wants to make use of his Hideous Blow ability while Raging. Would anyone be opposed to a feat that allows the use of this Invocation (or any or all others) while in Rage?

I'm sure you'll find many people that would to object. Just hope that your DM is not one of them. ;)

Not sure what Prerequisites you'd put on that Feat. It's fairly powerful both in theory of what it is overcoming, and in the balance of what it means to what a PC can do (your desire is a good example of that). Usually, since all Feats are equal purchase, a powerful Feat is balanced off by the prereqs forcing taking a couple of lessor powered Feats or sometimes by a prereq that can only be satisfied by a higher level character.

Players Guide to Fighters and Barbarians for Scarred Lands has the Rage Witch, and I think the Sorceror, Mages and Bards book had another. Both Scarred Lands.

You know what they say: Great Flavor...but the crunch...eh

I don't remember what the prerequisites are for Rage Mage, but I'd say it seems like a class that should allow the Warlock entrance-- adjust the Prereqs accordingly.
