If it's a homebrew campaign, just give zombies an intelligence score and deem them sentient. I'm pretty sure Libris Mortis suggests this, though I don't have the book at work (and if I did, I might not have work!).Gomez said:Is there a sentient undead player character race? Something like an intelligent zombie? I am needing on for a homebrew campaign I am working on.
Have you looked at what the zombie template does to you, though? It's pretty brutal. For starters, you only get a move or a standard action. That sucks. You also don't heal normally and can't be resurrected (if you hit 0 hp, you're gone).lukelightning said:The problem is that I think ANY undead race should carry an LA. You are immune to poison, disease, energy drain, ability drain and damage, mind affecting spells, critical hits, sneak attack, etc.

How about Undead with the "Living" subtype.phindar said:Undead are pretty similar mechanically to constructs, and we have Warforged, so anything's possible. You could do something similiar, making a race of lesser undead ("kinda undead") that don't share the all the immunities of the Undead Type.
