D&D (2024) Scribing and Using Scrolls

Please forgive me if this has been discussed. I couldn't find it in my, admittedly short, search.

I have a character that can scribe a scroll but cannot use the scroll I can scribe.

To scribe a scroll you need one of two proficiencies (arcana or calligraphy) and have the spell prepared.

My psychic warrior has the proficiencies (both probably) and has quite a # of spells through species, feats and other stuff.

To cast a spell from a scroll it says it needs to be on your class’s spell list. Since I am a fighter, I have no spell list so cannot from the scroll I crafted.

Am I missing something?

Double check the spells you have to confirm whether they are prepared or just known/castable.

Assuming that at least one of those is actually prepared, then you've indeed missed nothing - the spell scroll rules do (as they did in 5e14) result in characters being able to scribe scrolls that they cannot read/use.

2024 got rid of the concept of known spells as opposed to prepared spells. All casters prepare spells now, it they just have different rules for when they can change prepared spells and how many.

Yeah, Eldritch knights and Arcane tricksters in particular don’t have spell lists, and therefore can’t use scrolls.

They are using the wizard spell lists as their class's spell list. So I think they can use them.

I think it's an issue of RAW vs. RAI. As I see it, by RAW they can't use scrolls, which sucks. However, I doubt this was the intent, so I suspect most DMs will allow it.

Not sure if it is not raw. The wizard list becomes their class's spell list once they are eldritch knights or arcane tricksters.

Way back before he became the avatar of RAW, Jeremy Crawford unofficially posted that the intent was that Arcane Tricksters and Eldritch Knights could use scrolls:
