I know it's too much science, but it seems wrong that humans are biologically compatible with elves (and orcs).

Who says they are?

Humans aren't [don't have to be] biologically compatible with elves. Elves are magically compatible with humans...if they want to be.

Same with orcs. Humans don't have to be biologically compatible with orcs. The orcs, however, as we all know, are just fecund. ;) hahaha. It is THEY that are compatible with humans (and anything else they wouldn't rather eat).

Either is a matter of elvish/orcish physiology, not the other way around.

I used to like half-elves, but I'm at a point where I don't like half-breeds at all. I know it's too much science, but it seems wrong that humans are biologically compatible with elves (and orcs).

I kinda, sorta, could give orcs a pass since I still remember being 11 and asking my mom what "fecund" meant in the 1E MM entry. If you want to say orcs can breed with just about anything vaguely humanoid, it's an interesting racial ability.

If anyone's fecund, that has to be humans! Fantasy human DNA must be like The Thing.

It makes sense if they're all the same genus. Even in real life, it wouldn't be the first time humans have bred with another species. By all evidence, modern humans would be considered a half-race.

Dragons, though... I don't want to know how that works. That wouldn't be scientifically possible. Nor demons, which shouldn't even have DNA.
