Problems with Hotmail?

Richards

Legend
Is anybody else having problems accessing their Hotmail account? I haven't been able to sign in for two days now; every time I try I get the following message:

The .NET Passport service is currently unavailable at this Web site for one of these reasons:
• The site may contain an error or be experiencing a problem that affects the .NET Passport service.
• The site may not be an official .NET Passport-participating site.
Anybody know what's going on?

I went to check my emails a couple of times today, and haven't had any troubles. Of course, hotmail has many servers, I think, and maybe the one on which your account is located is having some problems. Do you know which server your account is on (usually, when you try to log in, the url changes to something like:
http://by16fd.bay16.hotmail.msn.com/

AR

The URL I get is

http://login.passport.net/uilogin.srf?id=2

which doesn't tell me a whole lot. Worse yet, my son got into his Hotmail account on his laptop upstairs with no problems. He says he's got MSN on his laptop, and that MSN and Hotmail interact so that might be why.

It's times like these I hate being so computer-ignorant. (Mind you, I have no desire to do anything about increasing my computer knowledge - I tried it once and hurt my little brain.)

For starters, have you tried cleaning out your cache and deleting temporary files and cookies? there's probably some bad file just sitting there messing with your browser.

also, have you tried accessing from other computers? that'll tell you if its your problem or hotmails.

I don't have MSN and haven't had any trouble the last couple of times I checked my account.

I even have the nerve to use Netscape, which Hotmail's not too fond of.

Thanks for the help, guys. I had already dumped my temp files, so that wasn't it. I tried again today, and after a few tries finally got in. I'm still not sure what the problem was, because both my boys have laptops, and they access the internet through the same connection my wife and I use for our PC (we've got one of those "beam the signal through the whole house" deals), and they've had no problems gaining access to Hotmail.

I'm going to have to just attribute it to "weird computer magic" that is far beyond my comprehension.
