So, last year I donated $5 to my local representative (Andy Kim) because I liked the guy since January 6th. It was a one-time donation because I'm not made of money, and I have never donated to any politician previously. And I'm 55 years old, so that's a lot of campaigns.

I apparently made it to the Democrats' "Major Donor" list because I've received from 6 to 20 emails every single day since then. I usually delete them without reading them because, really?, up to TWENTY EMAILS A DAY‽‽‽ Seriously‽

Anyway, the most recent one made me laugh out loud. "Your record really stood out" read the subject line. "When I looked through our past survey responses, I was very impressed with your level of enthusiasm. In fact, you were more active than 90 percent of Democrats in our database!"

I will reiterate, aside from the one- time donation, I have never responded to any of their emails, in any way, shape, or form.

I didn’t claim a direct link only that fish sauce has been in Europe for some time.

Didn't say you claimed it. Just presenting what culinary history I could dig up with a few minutes looking around.

An equally likely theory though would be to claim inspiration to make the sauce more exotic for advertising reasons, very common at the time.

I have no doubt that the claim was used for marketing. But that doesn't make it not true, either. So... shrug.

Getting on any sort of mailing list of the curse of our times. I think I'll go do a little ritual for a few enemies right now.

So, Canadian.

On one of my emails, I receive spam in terms of American gun laws, and the sale of guns, which I'm quite sure is both illegal, and not something I do. I own no guns, look up no guns, never have signed up for said guns....

On one of my other emails, I receive spam in terms of continuing my support for Biden/Harris, which..again, as a Canadian, I dont think I can do, nor do I do...

I've never signed up, contributed, bought, anything of the like, but someone sure seems to have sold my data.
