D&D 5E New Unearthed Arcana: Wonders of the Multiverse

WotC has posted a new Unearthed Arcana featuring the Glitchling race, the Fate domain, and a handful of backgrounds, feats and spells.

In today’s Unearthed Arcana, we explore D&D character options from across the multiverse. This playtest document presents the glitchling race; the Fate Domain cleric subclass; and the gate warden, giant foundling, planar philosopher, and rune carver backgrounds. Additionally, a collection of new feats provide links to giants and other primordial forces of the planes, while a selection of new spells highlight the power of fate and chance.

Ties that Bind.
Finally, some threads of fate manipulation. Oh wait, it’s just Hunter's Mark as a class feature. Which is kind of sad for Rangers, now that I think about it. How long have they been asking for this, and suddenly the Cleric gets it?
Disagree strongly here, Hunter's Mark runs off a bonus action and boosts weapon damage. While I agree that this should be a class feature (and not take a concentration slot) Ties that Bind, takes an action to activate, which make it expensive for use as an offensive act, (except with Spirit Weapon, may be) but it strikes me as more useful as giving a bonus to heal .

Problem with Ritual Caster for Acolyte is that Clerics are already Ritual Casters, so it would be redundant for the intended combo. Sticokg to Feats that arr not invalidated by any core Class Features is probably an important consideration to making the Backgrounds work for any Class anyways.

Ritual caster for clerics is a straight upgrade freeing a lot of preparation slots.
But yes, there needs to be a rule to either retrain or swap to a generic feat if it suits your character better. Same with militia training (either light armor or a few weapons) and the fighter class.
Otherwise generic combos will always end up in redundancy (Acolyte could swap to skilled, militia to tough with no problem).

If glitchlings have got vestigial wings, does this mean they can't wear any clothes on the back or the shoulders like the rest of humanoids?

A racial "flaw" (anti-feat) for glitchlings could be their cube-shaped heads wouldn't allow them to wear helms like the rest of humanoids.

After this, why not also the shardminds in the future Psionic Handbook? And what about the livings contructs as PCs in Dark Sun? If they don't need nor food neither water then there they are practically OP.

* Maybe the future sourcebook about giants not only add rune magic, but also elemental spells. Some times I imagined the runecaster class using some ideas from Magic incarnum, where the runecaster could use essence points for metamagic-feat effects in the runes (these working as chakras or body slots for magic item). Some magic runes in the weapons would work like a single-magic item (like potions or scrolls), and others as "runic" martial maneuvers, a spell-like ability in the middle between at-will and once-encounter. To reload the rune you would need a Concentration check, like regaining the psionic focus.
a) what does the top image come from?
b) I believe they are flat out not doing psionics this edition as the designers do not want to do it for some reason.
c) I would love more elemental spells as I love me some elemental blasting.

I had to wait until the morning to post a response, because I fell asleep reading the article. Usually UA perks me up, but that one was SO BORING.

I'm already sick of "prof mod per long rest" abilities, and they've just started switching to it.

It always seemed obvious to me that that power source should be hit dice. Perhaps not named hit dice and acquired at the rate that hit dice currently are, but it would make sense that the mechanic which all PCs use, at baseline, to regain HP while taking a breather could be a resource they draw from when exerting themselves in some special way.
I have found that in practice, different characters use up their HD at different rates. Specifically front-liners use them up faster.

So you can have a battlemaster front-liner, and a battlemaster archer - same chassis, but one would be a lot more free to power special abilities via HD.

So the character that is serving an important party roll in helping tank is mechanically penalized by using the same currency used for self-healing. And the ranged character gets a boost. That's just about the opposite of the mechanical effect I want.

Probably because they don't want to be piled on by trolls. You have read the vitriolic arguments on these forums? And this is one of the more reasonable (and well moderated) quarters of the internet.
And actually they have done psionics - they're in Tasha's.

Not liking an implementation of a concept isn't the same as them not doing the concept. I actually do think that they feel that they've done a psionics implementation now and they don't need to worry about it.

The idea that too many fiddly bonuses are much easier to manage in DDB.

Although I do agree with the sentiment that many fiddly bonuses are annoying, I think we are far away from it.
Regarding the sentiment, tha prof bonus per day is hard to keep track of without DnDBeyond, I think it is ridiculous.
How hard ist it to write down an ability and mark it each time you use it.
I'd even say, that it is easier to keep track of as a mixture of atteibute bonus per long rest, prof bonus per long rest, once per shirt rest, twice per short rest and so on. At least it is a lot more consistent.
A bit more boring? Maybe... but not more difficult to manage.
