That was the funniest movie I've seen all summer. A classic. It's one of those instantly quotable films where, every couple of minutes or so, somebody says something you know you're gonna be hearing years from now. Like the following:

Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.

You know, there's like a butt-load of gangs at this school. This one gang kept wanting me to join because I'm pretty good with a bo-staff.

I have to say this is one of my favorite films this year (if not my MOST favorite film this year that I've seen). And definetly gets put into my top 10 funniest films.

There so much here that hits so close to home. So much.

You haven't checked it out, you really should try and see it.

I just saw this movie on a field trip with my 9th graders (got to keep them busy at night, and the museums aren't open too late...). They loved it. I thought it was good enough that I had to jump on here and give it a *bump*.

Go check it out if you haven't. It's worth seeing. It's a bit odd, though. Napoleon isn't your normal geek. He strikes me as high-functioning autistic, and that makes it a bit hard to laugh sometimes. Still, he is an unforgettable character. I enjoyed the film as a comedy but not as a farce or a "jokey" Adam Sandler film. It's far from a perfect film, but it's pretty touching, even a little haunting.

My final impression of this movie wasn't very favorable, although it definitely had plenty of funny moments. Something about the directing and cinematography jsut really turned me off. Most of the time there was no attempt at smooth scene transitions, and the camera tended to just sit in place and stay focused on one thing for too long.

As did the characters, which is one reason Napoleon struck me as a high functioning autistic. Good point.

I just went and read Ebert's review of the movie, which wasn't favorable. I think he missed the point, though - or else he failed to ignore the intended point and enjoy it anyway like I did. I didn't care if it was meant to be a comedy or what. I just thought it was touching, with funny moments, and very true. In fact, I thought some of the characters had a touch of the tragic hero in them, for doggedly persevering in the face of overwhelming social difficulties.

I just saw this last night. Very interesting movie, with a subtle, low-key humor. If you're going to go see it, make sure you stick around through the credits, because there's another 3 minutes or so after the credits are done.
