D&D 5E MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

I noticed spells slots can only have 4/day. If it's higher than 4/day (homebrew, magic items, etc.), maybe change it to a small /5 or /6 in the bottom right corner? Also, the ability to sort the actions with those magic little boxes would be nice.

Edit:
And if the weapons were sorted more clearly in the drop list, that would be really great. Searching for where's the damned longsword or hand crossbow is really annoying. I get that it matches the PHB order, but without subsections, it comes across as a random list of stuff. I suggest that the list gets broken down into a more logical/easier to search

Weapons [Alphabetical]
Spells/Invocations [Alphabetical]

This way you're presented with
[Blank]
Battleaxe
Blowgun
Club
Crossbow, Hand
Crossbow, Heavy [or Hand Crossbow/Heavy Crossbow/Light Crossbow]
Crossbow, Light
Dagger
Dart
...
Warhammer
Whip
Improvised Weapon
Unarmed Strike
[Blank]
Spell Attack
Agonizing Blast
Agonizing Spear
...
Vicious Mockery
Thunderclap

That are some great suggestions! The menu for the actions is implemented easily enough. While I'm at it, I'll also do the Limited Features for good measure ;)

As for the weapons sorting. I agree that alphabetically can be easier. But if you already know what you are looking for, typing is probably just as fast as looking for it. I think it looks better to have "Hand Crossbow" like in the PHB, than "Crossbow, Hand" on you sheet (although it would arguably look better in the drop-down, but unfortunately whatever you select in the drop-down will become the field value. Because of this way of writing, any alphabetical sorting will still not be very logical, as it would turn out like this:

  1. Battleaxe
  2. Blowgun
  3. Club
  4. Dagger
  5. Dart
  6. Flail
  7. Glaive
  8. Greataxe
  9. Greatclub
  10. Greatsword
  11. Halberd
  12. Hand Crossbow
  13. Handaxe
  14. Heavy Crossbow
  15. Improvised Weapon
  16. Javelin
  17. Lance
  18. Light Crossbow
  19. Light Hammer
  20. Longbow
  21. Longsword
  22. Mace
  23. Maul
  24. Morningstar
  25. Net
  26. Pike
  27. Quarterstaff
  28. Rapier
  29. Scimitar
  30. Shortbow
  31. Shortsword
  32. Sickle
  33. Sling
  34. Spear
  35. Trident
  36. Unarmed Strike
  37. War pick
  38. Warhammer
  39. Whip

If I would start writing it like "Crossbow, Hand", I should be consistent and also write "Sword, Long" and "Pick, War". I personally think that those look rather stupid (although entering any of these would still work with the sheet's automation).

Also, I prefer to put the Warlock invocation-enabled eldritch blast versions at the end, because you will never need them. If you select the corresponding Invocation, the sheet will add the cantrip to the attacks section automatically. They are just in the list for the homebrews out there :)

As for the spell slots, I'm not sure how it would look, but I'll give it a try!

Yup, that 1-39 list is pretty much what I had in mind. That would be perfect. If invocations are last, then it could be

Weapons
Cantrips
Invocations

I went for a combination of both. At the end of the drop-down list is a list of the variations of things that share a common denominator.

This brings us to the next version:

MPMB's Character Sheet v10.4 (1-3-2016) with the following changelog:
  • Added menus to move the Limited Features and the Actions (as suggested by Headbomb)
  • Added fields to the Spellslot section to show if there are more spell slots available than shown (i.e. if the amount of spell slots is higher than 4 due to homebrew, magic item, or something else) (as suggested by Headbomb)
  • Changed the non-calculated export so that the notes on the 3rd page are also exported (thanks neoldobyss for noticing)
  • Fixed a bug that stopped the menu squares on the 5th page from changing colour
  • Changed the sorting of the attacks drop-down (as suggested by Headbomb)

Hey Purple, is there any way to get Green Flame Blade added to the weapons drop menu like the other cantrips? also I love the ability to change the color of the sheets and dragon heads, although it would be nice if the dragon head around the HP bar changed colors too.

The Green Flame Blader cantrip is a bit of a special case because it is combined with a regular attack, doesn't adhere to the normal cantrip damage system, has multiple targets, and is inconsistent with to who it deals damage at various levels. All this makes it very impractical to fit it in the attack box that I made. If you have a practical way of doing this I am all ears!

GFB is kind of a mouthful, How about in the Prof Put a asterisk, Ability the player can put in, Range Melee, To hit would be an asterisk, Damage would be an asterisk, Damage type Fire, in description, maybe something like "On Hit, Does 0d8 Fire dmg to Target, and +(Ability Mod here)Fire dmg to Target within 5'." then at lvl 5 it can change to "On Hit, Does 1d8 Fire dmg to target, and 1d8+(Ability mod here) Fire dmg to target within 5'." etc for higher levels

i typed it in the current spell sheet, and it looks good, the font isnt too small. (although i have no idea how to change things in the sheet themselves, thats why i plan on buyin you a case of beer) just an idea, it owuld be nice to not have to type it all out :D

I see how you came up with some sort of solution that works, great!, but it feels somewhat convoluted to me. As it is now, I have only added cantrips to the attack section that require an attack roll or have a DC. Green Flame Blade is a special case because it requires an attack roll, but doesn't use a spell attack role but that of a weapon. In your solution you basically disregard the primary function of the Attack section: to auto-calculate the to hit and damage based on ability modifier. Because GFB requires two damages,

>> Prof Put a asterisk
>> To hit would be an asterisk
Both of these are very hard to accomplish because that would mean putting in extra fields just for GFB and that is a little bit too much for just one cantrip.

>> +(Ability Mod here)
I think you mean that this should be a calculated value (i.e. taken from the ability score modifiers directly). Because of how I set up the sheet, it is not possible to put a calculated value in the attack's description. That would ruin a couple of other functions.

>>then at lvl 5 it can change to
Another issue. Because of how the sheet is build up, the attacks don't change when changing level. This would require defining several new document level JavaScript functions just for this one exceptional case.

>> i typed it in the current spell sheet
The spell sheet does have GFB as a cantrip and there it does auto-update. Maybe you meant "character sheet" instead of "spell sheet"?

As you can see, your solution has a lot of problems with the current implementation of my character sheet. I won't say that I couldn't make it work as how you would want it to, I just want to say that it would probably cost a day or two of revising my code just to make this one cantrip work. I hope you can understand that I don't think this one exceptionally weird cantrip to be worth the effort.

If you are interested, as an alternative, I can give you some code for all the different levels of GFB that you can put into the "Add user script" dialog.

i kinda figured it would take a lot of work, tbh a lot more then 1 cantrip to be added is worth. lol and NO thanks for the code and what not... i can barely use paint... (i have copy paste solution to add it to new sheets so im not too worried about it) im still totally gunna buy you a beer (or case) for your awesome sheet. Keep up the good work.

Well than, good luck with your copy-paste solution! It is a shame they decided to stray so far from the path when designing the Green Flame Blade cantrip, else it would've been easy to implement.
