Incidentally, a reskinned artificer would probably make a good cleric of Gond for a PC.

Indeed, in fact if you have access to the Dragon magazine, there was an article not too long ago that too things in that direction

If annother player wants to buy in, just use the already suggested reflavored artificer as your gond cleric and have him play a warforged as your gondsman companion
