D&D 5E Magical items

First Post
So I have made a few magic items as I am a wizard, but one of my friends asked the question, can I make magical items to? And he's a Druid, we looked in the book on pages 128-129 and did not see anything, so I'm wondering, can he a Druid dwarf put magic into items?

That's up to the DM. Magic item creation isn't a part of standard 5e rules, as magic items aren't necessary. There are some options in the DMG, but they're optional, so it's a DM call how he wants to handle them.

Everything KahlessNestor said is true, and exactly how it works.

If the DM is using those optional rules as they are laid out, magic item creation is based on (among other things) being a spellcaster of a certain level.

It doesn't differentiate between wizard, cleric, or druid, thereby allowing* druid item creation.

*Again, if being used as written in the DMG.

I was thinking of adapting the 3.0 rules for creating magical items except instead of an xp cost it has a skill check.
General cost would remain the same halving this to create the item with a critical fail creating a cursed item (unless they WANT to make a cursed item!).
They would need to use a Feat to gain such an Item Creation ability using the 3.0 prerequisite so Scribe Scroll available at 1st level, Brew Potion at 3rd, etc...
Would that work for you as it depends on your available spells as to what you can create?

Agreed with what the others have said - there is no inherent reason why a wizard could and a druid could not. However, a GM might rule that certain items are best created by a wizard and others by a druid, based on their spell list, class abilities etc.

The skill check would be about 8+caster level (highest spell used)+1 per additional spell used in its construction in addition to the one the highest spell used is based on.

I was thinking 10+ but this is 5e and they normally use 8+proficiency +ability score so figure that makes more sense?
