Do you mean this bit? If so I thoroughly agree.I really enjoyed the finale, but the previous episode delivered the best and clearest statement of Star Trek’s way of doing science fiction in a few lines of dialogue.
The multiple universes thing was used quite sparingly, until "Discovery" turned it into a season(s?) long thing. The same with time travel. I think that "Lower Decks" definitely lands better with more Trek knowledge, but is still otherwise funny.I watched the whole show, but I'm not a big trek fan so I missed a lot of the jokes.
That said part of the reason I'm not a trek fan is all the time travel and multi verse junk ( and taking it all so seriously). So this show basically playing it all for laughs and pointing out how obsurd it is made me appreciate the show. Thus my assessment Lower Deck was a show you can enjoy as a Trek fan or as not a Trek fan.
That’s the one!Do you mean this bit? If so I thoroughly agree.
“We don't need to meet new species."
"Okay, then why bother exploring at all?"
"To better understand ourselves. It's fun to learn about aliens, but learning about Humanity, that's something else. I've met Humans who've built rings around the sun. I've met others whose ships are the size of continents. I'm learning about what Humans can be. Mapping our potential. So far, it's limitless."
