Lost on an Island question

Yes I know that this has come up before but it always gets such great posts. :D

"You and your gaming group while travelling to New Zealand are forced to crash land into the ocean and wash up onto the shore of an unknown tropical island. Only you and your gaming group survived the doomed flight. You have food, water, shelter in a nearby cave, and a single complete set of gaming dice"

What one RPG book would you want to have with you? :D

I hate to be mundane, but for me it's the Player's Handbook (3.5). From the information in that book, all other needed information could be derived or created. A close second would be the Dungeon Master's Guide.

The Monster Manual isn't terribly required to play an exciting game.

That said, I'd be really cranky to not have my grey 3-ring DM's binder, which has all my campaign world information in it and lots of other useful goodies.

Just for gaming I'd have to go with GURPS, Champions, or the D&D Rules Cyclopedia. However, I'd probably go with that Super Dungeon book. With the number of pages in it I figure I could build a fire that the space shuttle could see from space!

Well, first of all I would be killed (any jury would acquit if in court, so it isn't murder!) by my new fellow islanders for complaining about the heat so much (You heard of 'morning people'--I am not a 'heat person').

I would have brought along GURPS 4th Edition (even though I've never played GURPS) just for the variety. Either that or the 3.0 Players Handbook
(SCREW 3.5!).

[And theres this weird music that keeps playing whenever you say "But 4th eidtion isn't out yet..." dee dee dee dee dee dee dee dee ]

We would slowly starve to death because of a lack of tools with which to acquire food (post-9-11 airline/FAA policies), but we would still have fun.

Oooops...

You have food, water, shelter in a nearby cave...

Then we will either be killed/rescued by whoever left the food and water here. So the question is moot.

Well, that would have to be the limited edition single volume that has the PHB, DMG and MM all in one huge leather-bound tome...I know it doesn't really exist, but I'm not really on a desert island either.
:p

Suddenly I want to write d20 Gilligan's Island -- so long as it had instructions in a sidebar on how to properly build a raft. :D

That was good, you almost made me spew water all over my monitor. Let's see, you'd have classes for the Skipper, Professor, Movie Star, Millionaire, Millionaire's wife, and Farm Girl. It would be manditory for the GM to run an NPC in every game known as the "Inept Seaman" and it would be the purpose of that NPC to foil the escape plans of the party. It would also include in the equipment section the "Super Radio" which has batteries that never run out and can clearly receive signals at incredible distances. In a futuristic campaign it could be an XM radio with a nuclear battery. :D
