Jedi Academy: Several questions/comments

So, in Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, one could access the console by SHIFT+~, type "devmapall" and then g_saberrealisticcombat 1 to enable all kinds of limb and head severing excitement.

I just bought Jedi Academy yesterday, but the same code doesn't seem to do the job. I assumed that since both games use the same engine, that the same code would work. Can someone tell me if I can get the same dismemberment fun out of Jedi Academy, and if so, how?

Also, shortly after installing the game, my system started getting uber-slow. When I ALT+CTRL+DEL, I find that one of two processes are eating up 90% or more of my CPU: CIDAEMON.EXE and "System Idle Process." I have no idea if either of these are related to Jedi Academy, but if someone could help me with them, that'd be awesome.

I've got a Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop, 3.06 ghz P4, 512mb of RAM, and a 64mb nVidia GeForce FX Go5200. I installed new drivers for the video card after installing Jedi Academy.

Also, how do I unlock dual sabers and the saber-staff for the single-player game? I assume I just have to beat the game once?

And lastly, has anyone else had trouble with the speeder bike level? I keep getting killed by the mooks that chase after you.

Thanks for any help!

cidaemon.exe is the Indexing Service from MS. It runs in the background and catalogues files so that you can search for files containing a specific text string.

The System Idle process a part of the operating system. The idle process is 99 when the system doesn't do antyhing intensive (that is, 99% system idle is a good thing).

These two processes doesn't cause your problem. I don't really know what causes the slowdown, sorry.

Hint: Try CTRL+SHIFT+ESC instead of CTRL+ALT+DEL

The twin sabre and sabre staff modes become available maybe 2/3 of the way through, maybe a little less.

The speeder bikes gave me some trouble, too, the two tricks I used were boosting speed up and bumping the enemy bikes into stuff when they pull alongside me, and chopping the bike up with my light sabre when they're coming head-on. You may have already figured this out, but it was not immediately clear to me that I could use my lightsabre while riding the bike.

I don't know anything about the slowdown or the sever code...

I also used the saber, and I did a lot of weaving whiel being chased. The enemies often killed themselves in some gruesome crashes. The slow-mo saber kills are sweet as hell on that level, too, because the bike often goes spiralign out of control while the dead rider caroms off of the ground at high speed.

So, wow! I got 2/3 of the way through, and as a plot device, Jaden's lightsaber gets yoinked. I have to say that the saber-staff is sooo much more fun than the single saber. And long-jumping is a blast.

Also, if anyone cares, my system slow-down problems have evaporated for whatever reason. I'm not complaining...

Yea, the realistic saber combat code works.

I was using it once when I jumped down into a circle of four stormtroopers. I spun my lightstaff over my head and watched the bodyparts fly.

Their is nothing quiet so satisfying as dispatching 4 enemies with one slick looking move.

The lightstaff is great fun.
