"I don't know how precognition works," Echo said, a frustrated line appearing on her forehead. "But I suspect it sees a projection of the future based on past and present events, otherwise it would be immutable. Which means that, if the anomaly continues as it is, there's no future."

"But if it can be stopped, that lack-of future will not come to pass."

She turned towards the alien hero. "Avatu, is this a naturally-occurring phenomenon, or is there a guiding intelligence behind it?"

"Precognition is merely an advanced way of Predicting outcomes based on known, assumed, and calculated variables. As such, it would seem rather difficult to predict what will happen when confronted with an unknown variable, such as this Anomaly. It may instill a feeling of dread, but I doubt it is the end of the world, merely your natural reaction to loosing a sense that is a part of you, much like one would react if suddenly blinded."

Optic stops and turns towards Omen "However, given that such precognition is also a sign of senses beyond the human norm it is also possible that you are picking up on something we are not, a danger being presented here that COULD destroy the world. It would be irresponsible to disregard the possibility out of hand..." He sighs and looks back towards the anomaly. "There is just not enough information to even Speculate. Avatu, please, I can not understand what it must be like to be the last survivor of your entire dimension, but if we are to prevent a similar catastrophe in this one, we could really use any information or insight you may have."

RE: Precognition - Optic wasn't trying to belittle the seers, it's just that to him everything has a scientific explanation. One of his main quotes is "Magic is just a word for Science we can't explain".

RE: Anomaly - Have our closer scans been able to turn up anything else about the anomaly? Did anything register on any of Optics personal perceptions?

RE: Avatu - Not sure if it's required, but Persuasion check to convince Avatu to share any info he may be holding back (Possibly with circumstance bonuses for situation and/or Optic having a background with Avatu?) 18+10=28 + Circumstances?

RICOCHET HP: 1 Condition: Healthy

Ricochet was content for a bit to let the brainy types hash out what they were up against. But all this talk of "no future" was making the hero a bit antsy.
"Alrighty so we got some dimension overtaking ours? Let's take it to the other side find out who is behind it and cram their teeth down their throat."

 

[Insight]

"No disrespect, Omen, but can you be a bit more precise? My current words are actually in the future of your last sentence. How long do we have left?" D'lyn asks, more concerned with the end of the whole dimension than some villains.

Omen turns towards the Oracle and then back to the Visitor. "The future is... in question. If we fight those villains, it will merely distract us from a bigger picture. What that bigger picture IS, I cannot say."

Avatu looks at the silver energy ribbon in the distance. "I believe that this phenomenon is a manifestation of my home dimension... an incursion into this dimension. What its purpose is... I cannot say at present. I presume that we will know more in short order."

Avatu frowns. "Alas, I am NOT the last of my home dimension. I am not really a -- an individual -- per se. I am a PIECE of my home dimension. You see, I am a PART of that dimension, which no longer contains any living beings such as yourselves. I -- Avatu -- am in humanoid form by my choosing. What I really am is part of that," he says, gesturing at the energy field.

"Like myself, what remains there -- my FATHER, so to speak -- is an intelligence. What its purpose may be, I cannot say at present."

Nightengale frowns. "If it's an intelligence, there has to be a way to communicate with it, doesn't there?" the young man tries. "I realize you detached from the whole, Avatu, but have you no way to ... "talk" to it, for lack of a better term?"

“So, we just sit here, to wait and see what happens?” Blitz asks, pacing around nervously.

“I was never good at waiting...”

Turning to Avatu once more after a moment, the girl adds: “And why here? Can't you ‘guys’ live out your family crisis elsewhere?”

 

[Insight]

Avatu takes a step towards the energy ribbon.

"Perhaps the end is near," he says, staring at the scintillating silver energy. "Perhaps this is a last gasp.. reaching out... for me... or for this reality."

The villain known as the Oracle turns to Avatu. "There is some... disturbance... coming from that field! Can you feel it, my son?"

Omen turns in the direction of the energy field. "Something... yes. Something is trying to come through!"

Suddenly -
The minds of Prodigy, Nightengale, Omen, Scream, and the Oracle are LINKED! Each of them REELS with the overwhelming POWER coming from the psychic energy of the extradimensional field!

OOC: All of the named characters are stunned for the time being.

 

[Insight]

ELSEWHERE IN THE PARK
The heroes with the better observational skills notice the following actions taking place further away:

• The Atomic League - Core, Halflife, Lady Nuke, and Meltdown - definitely moving into defensive positions at the far treeline.
• The Crusader Steelclad takes off into the air, straight up, and stops about 100ft above their jet.
• The Maidens of Mayhem - Amp, Entropy, Epicenter, Jade, and Scream (who immediately drops, grabbing her head -- see above) - are spreading out, some heading for cover, some moving towards the Atomic League.

"'Bout damn time!" the impatient Ricochet exclaimed as he stood his ground and set up his deflection field ready to counter anything coming at him. He stared at the field and waited
