Inner Sea Campaign Setting book

Mercurius

Legend
Evidently some Pathfinder subscribers already have this - is that true? My Amazon pre-order has me getting it in mid-April, but Amazon has been rather funky with Paizo orders.

Anyhow, my question is for those who have this, how different is it from the first campaign book? How much new material? Is that new material fluff or crunch? Has anything been taken out? Is the formatting different? Overall do you think it is a better product?

Thanks!

I got mine yesterday, and haven't had much of a chance to do more than flip through. In a sidebar in the Introduction, it's stated that this version is 64 pages longer, but there is more than 64 pages worth of new material. They removed the discussion of pretty much everything that is now covered in the RPG books (Core Rulebook, etc), removed outdated material and consolidated information in a few places to make more room.

The looks and layout got a slight facelift, and I like the new version better on first glance. The color scheme seems more subtle, and the artwork is just as good but less intrusive - more complimentary, which is a good thing IMO.

I noted a section on the other worlds of the solar system (there are 11) which I don't recall from the 3.5 version.

Looks like they put the feats into their own section, and there's a section on the various factions.

They said the timeline has been tweaked, but honestly I didn't get into that part of the original too much so I won't notice a difference there.

I would say there is about 100 pages worth of new stuff. Beyond it being 64 pages longer as was mentioned some of the old stuff is gone as it was covered in the core book. All the mechanical stuff got updated to Pathfinder. All the countries got 4 pages of information. The layout and region maps by each country is very nice. As is the rough map of the world.

$.9.99 for the PDF.

In the past, the game books have been that price.

For them to put the setting at this price seems new to me. Great mind you, but new.

Could Paizo also be moving towards an 'app' pricing? You already get PDFs when you subscribe...

All Paizo hardcovers are $9.99 in PDF format. That's something they've been very adamant about since the beginning.

The original campaign setting is $34.99, at least that is what the price is today. $9.99 for a campaign setting in PDF format is a super sweet price.

Ok, here's the important question... are those 100 pages of new stuff good enough to warrant buying the book if you have the original?

I'm wondering if I should maybe sell the original version and put the money toward the new version. I want a physical book, not a pdf, but I hate buying a book I already have 2/3rds of, unless the new stuff is amazing.
