Hide armor as light armor?

None that I know of. A sort of work-around option may be to have studded leather-equivalent armor, where the reinforcements arn't metal. Strips of treated bone or wood, etc.

It'd be a check with your DM type situation, but one that seems quite reasonable.

I've had studded leather that was studded with bone. But I was looking to skin some kills and make armor from the hides. So, a magical way to make them light armor would be usefull.

Well, there's Halfweight. +3 mod that makes the armor light regardless of what category it was before. Only a +2 mod if the armor is also illithidwrought (which is itself a +2 mod).

Expensive, but it's an option.

Light armor, made from the skin of dead creatures? Isn't that just called Leather?

The armor bonus is only one less (and a magical ability that reduced the category by one step would be at least +2 anyway) with a higher Max. Dex. and much lower penalty.

The Arms and Equipment Guide also has Leather Scale armor. Light, +3 armor bonus, +6 Max. Dex. and -2 ACP.

I don't think I would worry over much about +1 AC. Just call it studded leather armor in game terms and whatever you want in flavor terms, like "The Hide of my beloved, trusted steed Loyal."

Studded leather is a no-no. That is normally prohibited to druids, so an equivalent should come with some kind of cost. Light hide armor is called "leather."

Dragoncraft Dragonhide Armor. The Dragoncraft property reduced the effective category by one step. It's in the Draconomicon. As a side effect, you also gain energy resistance appropriate to the dragon type the armor is made of...
