Has anyone seen the Night Watch?

I saw a preview for it a while ago and was (and still am) pretty excited about it. Information is hard to find though. Thanks for the link. :)

I think my brother was involved in the post-production of it... or possibly just knows someone who was, the conversation's not that fresh in my mind. He said it was really good.

It is a great Russian horror/fantasy movie, the first part of the trilogy, filled with perfect atmosphere and original special effects. I say it is much better than Constantine or Underworld, and even Matrix 2-3.

Isn't that like saying someone is a better actor thatn Keanu Reeves? He may be, but he might still be lousy.

Though I have heard good things abou the movie, and have heard about it a long time ago. But it's been very slow in coming to the US

One of the Century cinemas in my area had a poster for it several months ago, but last time I was at that theatre the poster was gone. I don't know if they've decided not to run it after all, or if it's just because there's some delay in the US release.

It's full of brilliant ideas for a game (d20 modern, maybe nWoD?), but as a movie I didn't do too much for me. Many great scenes and the beginning was fantastic, but at the end it just imploded IMO. Maybe it comes from a different sense of narrative conventions, but the end of the maelstroem as well as the 'choice' part at the came very suddenly, unexplained and confusing. It just made no sense.

I'll have to get the book, though. Especially, if it is to serve as setting for a game. Maybe the confusion and sudden 'kaboom-we have won' end is lessened there ...

What I thought of it in a nutshell: The movie was good, the ending sucked, but that can be forgiven as it's only the first part of a trilogy.

I thought the previews looked excellent (shot of a tiger in a small apartment kitchen was really cool)... but IMDB doesn't even have a US release date, tho the film premiered in Russia last year...
