Halfling Paladin?

Dark Ranger

First Post
I am starting a new campaign set in the forgotten realms and I want to create a halfling paladin.

I'm looking for any input on creation. We are allowed a 32-point attribute cost and can pick any region in the Realms. Thanks for any suggestions!!

Two words: Mounted Combat. A halfling with a war dog as a mount is only medium-sized, so you can go into dungeons, etc. Focus on mounted combat feats (Ride-By, Spirited Charge) and have fun.

Search the other posts: someone had a very good version of a halfling paladin using a war dog. I think you can find it in the dumb paladins thread as well as others.

Take the strongheart halfling from FRCS I think that is the name of the race. You get a bonus feat at 1st level but you lose the +1 to your saving throws that other halfling races get.

I think it was Artoomis who had the war dog mounted halfling Paladin. Search for him and ask for a copy and I'm sure he'll be happy to spread the good word.

Unfortunately, his paladin was loaded quite a bit. I added it up one time, and it's something like 45-50 points on point buy. Definate ouch.

Paladins, like all classes tend to focus on something. Are you going to be mostly a mounted combat expert? Or a healer? Or a diplomat? Or a spellcaster? Or an Undead Hunter?

Paladins and Monks are probably the hardest characters to make using a 32 point-buy system because the need good stats in multiple areas.

Wrong. 32-point buy. Most stats were boosted with items plus the 2 stats boosts for 4th and 8th level, but he was created with a 32-point buy and normal cash for 11th level.

See the link below for full stats, items, etc. There are also some tips from my experiences with paladins.

That's not really true. They get the most obvious beneifits from many stats, but that by no means makes it so that you need high stats.

Here's an Example oif a good Paladin Halfling.

Str 11 (13-2 race modifier): Halfling get +1 to hit for size and Paladins have the best attack progression. So, you don't need that high of a strength.

Dex: 13 (11+2 race modifier): You will wear heavy armor so, no need having a dex that is too high or you waste it.

Con: 15: Good hit points are always important.

Int: 12: Skils are important.

Wis: 14: High enough to cast all your spells. Not a lot of Paladin spells that give depend on saving throws so you don't need a high wisdom.

Cha: 14: +2 for your smites, the eqiuvalent of Lightning Reflexes, Great Fortitude, and Iron Will; and a nice bonus to your turn undead abilities

Notice I have odd abilites with a point buy. How oftendo you see that? I like to get meaning out of my attribute bonuses. Paladins don't need any single high score. So, spread it around with whatever you need. HP: boost Con. Attack Power: Boost str. Any of the things Dex gives you, boost it.

Here;s what I did:

Str: 14(-2) = 12
Dex: 8 (+2) = 10
Con: 12
Int: 12
Wis: 14
Cha: 16

At 11th level:

Str 16 (+2 from item) (ed: fixed to "16")
Dex 10
Con 14 (+2 from item)
Int 12
Wis 16 (+2 from item)
Cha 20 (+2 from stat pt boosts, +2 from item)

Of course his Touch AC is 12 (+2 Ring), so that's his big weakness.
