Half-Vampires

Half vampire? How would that happen? Undead don't breed do they?

In slavic folklore, vampires were fertile, and there are lots of examples of myths of vampire-like creatures in other cultures that acted lasiviously and inspired similar feelings in their victims.

Its mostly in popular literature that the male vampire is impotent or incapable. Yarbro's St. Germain can't perform in that fashion because of grievous wounds (a deliberate mutilation prior to his 'death',) and Anne Rice's male vamps are neither interested nor capable, except when gorged on the blood of multiple victims. The sometimes (okay, often) predatory nature of male sexuality is replaced in these stories by the lust for blood, and the vampire's method of feeding is a substitute for sexual congress.

In western lore, the incubus/sucubus would be the archetype. There is a "Vampires: A-Z" website with lots of other examples. Here is a link to it.

Yes, but they probably had Constitution scores.

Well, you can be half-golem, LordAO ... Undead can't me much harder.

In fact, the Pale Master is kinda "half-undead" by dint of class abilities, after all ...

You can be a half-golem?

But seriously, you are either alive or dead. How can you be neither or both? And let's say I am a half-Vampire. So what about healing spells? Do they heal me? harm me? And what about Inflict spells? Do both types of spells heal me? Do both harm me? Can I have children? Do I get the immunities of undead? Am I vulnerable to turning?

These questions may sound silly, but they are actually very important questions to answer if you want to have "Half-Undead" in your game.

Half-Golems... Why do I suspect they are in some 3rd party book?

Half-Golems

Half-Golems are actually located in the Monster Manual II. They are not the result of breeding golems, but instead the end result of having a limb replaced with an artificial copy. They actually are rather interesting.

I could see half-undead as the result of raise deads gone wrong and such, but I am not so sure the idea of normal reproduction with undead. I should probably get a subscription to the magazines, I seem to miss a lot of fun stuff in them.

Well, they probably do appear in some 3rd party books, but I remember seeing them first in the Monster Manual II. Half-Golem is a template that is added to a creature by replacing one or more limbs with constructed limbs

Half Golems are a WOTC creation, found in Monster Manual II.
Half Elementals are in Manual of the Planes.
Half Undead are Dragon 313, and half some (but not all) of the immunities of undead. It answers all the questions you brought up about them.
