Experience point penalties. A half-dragon human who was 3rd level was treated as 5th level, so a 3rd level half-dragon fighter was considered to be a powerful as a 5th level human wizard. And if you believe that, I got a bridge in Neverwinter to sell you.wasn't there templates in previous editions, how were they balanced?
Level adjustments are a bad mechanic. Too powerful at low levels, too weak at high levels.Level adjustment no?
Please point me to the level 1 feat that gives me fire resistance, darkvision, and three bonus spells per day.Feat Tax would be appropriate in that scenario. Fey Touched is in Tashas right?
Given Fey Touched could be applied to any plane, your statement lacks the objectivity you fell it has.Level adjustments are a bad mechanic. Too powerful at low levels, too weak at high levels.
Mix-and-match via comparable swaps is the only viable mechanical.
I thought it was a question of gaining it later, not level 1Please point me to the level 1 feat that gives me fire resistance, darkvision, and three bonus spells per day.
i would suggest as an updated alternative to that as adding a % increase to exp for levelling (or additional milestones per level) except i suspect that absolutely no-one would follow it as the level dissonance between players would just be a hassle for groups to account forExperience point penalties. A feat tax to play a Human/Elf? No, thank you.Given Fey Touched could be applied to any plane, your statement lacks the objectivity you fell it has.
Presumably, the 2024 Players Handbook will have an example of a Human/Elf. Players can use the multispecies rules to build a Human/Elf with different traits, or conveniently use the pregen as-is.No, that's not helpful at all. Other games have a build a bear species, no thanks.
I use neither xp nor milestones.i would suggest as an updated alternative to that as adding a % increase to exp for levelling (or additional milestones per level) except i suspect that absolutely no-one would follow it as the level dissonance between players would just be a hassle for groups to account for
