good adventures that start around level 8/9?

What are some good modules/adventures that would start somewhere around level 8 or 9? Hopefully, something that has some length to it - meaning, it will take the party up at least 2-3 levels, if not more.

thanks

Last Breath of Ashenport (from Dungeon -- DDi subscription needed) is pretty good, but you would likely need to add to it to get the 2 - 3 levels out of it you are looking for.

There is of course also the Tomb of Horrors, the first phase of which I believe is aimed at the upper levels of heroic if I am not mistaken (though I do not own it so can't say for sure).

The "Beneath the Dust" DDI adventure is level 8 if I recall, but it's Dark Sun so some reworking might be necessary. Not nearly as much as if you were going the other way though.

it really depends on how skilled the players are, are they able to take on a solo easily or do they have trouble with normal monsters?

They're a group of 6 players, with 2 very good strikers... so, they eat solos for lunch. I tend to have more luck challenging them with several waves of regular & elite monsters.

I should also say that the group is more oriented towards the outdoors, so city adventures are probably not the best idea.

Thanks for the reminder Quickleaf, I had let my DDI sub lapse, but have re-upped and will be updating the spreadsheet for July and August today :)

For my money The Last Breaths of Ashenport is the best adventure at this level, but it may not be the tone you want for an adventure. The length isn't 2-3 levels though. It is 35 "pages" though so it's hefty.

Revenge of teh Giants is a Mega Adventure, lots of hack n slash if your group likes that, covers 12-17, but you could dial it down fairly easily (you'd have to tweak all the monsters daamge to be MM3 too to up the difficulty).

The Tomb of Horrors Mega Adventure starts at 10th and there's multiple adventures with a certain enemy up to 22nd level.

Pyramid of Shadows: Adventure H3 is the module released for that range too, or King of the Trollhaunt Warrens: Adventure P1, but neither are very good IMO.

Unfortunately, I don't have any 3rd PP on the list, but outside of the DCC ones from Goodman Games I'm not really aware of any others for the system. Gosh, I still bash my head against the wall reading the Paizo AP's and thinking how amazing it would be to have that level of polish/story-telling in a 4e module.... *sigh* the conversions continue.
